BTS Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Barry's job seems pretty tough. His gig is usually done by an attractive woman. But the network sends Barry in to annoy a bunch of celebrating jocks. Then again, I remember Barry's phone clip of Chavez being carted off after his trade. A guy who would stand there for an eight second clip probably finds a lot of other ways to be annoying too. His job must be so emasculating. Awkward little Barry Davis getting treated like garbage by athletes, and there's nothing he can do about it because a) he's a beta, and he needs to stay in their good books to get interviews.

There is nothing he can do about it. Period. If he stands up for himself he would get fired. But the way Smoak and Upton swore it was almost that it wasn't about Barry. This team hates the media in general I would argue Barry had more to do with the Jays winning the WC this year than Smoak or Upton. Over a full season if they played everyday they would have shattered all sorts of strikeout records

Seems like Sportsnet are propping her up to be the on-field interviewer soon, she's done a lot of one-on-one interviews with Jays players this year
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 So no more home broadcasts? I don't get why buck and tablet can't call postseason games..

The on-field reporter is a pretty terrible job. Working for basically 6 months straight and constantly on the road flying commercial.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 but she'd be swooned by players all the time, bet she'd like that. Is she single? I'm sure a few players have already tapped that.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 lmao Upton was smiling the whole time what are you talking about I didn't really see a smile. Timestamp one if you want. Maybe they were joking but for the aforementioned reasons I don't think it's a given.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 He's also not particularly good at what he does. It's true that in his job those kinds of interviews never lead anywhere or offer any content of interest to the fans, but have you ever watched a Barry Davis interview? Maybe we get a wrong impression of him because the players seem to not give a s*** about him and he's a creepy tiny middle-aged man, but he's like the Pat Tabler of pre-game/post-game interviews. I don't think he's any worse than most people who do that job his problem is that he's not an attractive female which, fair or not, at least allows the audience to look at something while listening to those pointless interviews.

King Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I don't have a problem with Barry Davis. He seems like a genuinely nice dude (without knowing him personally) that loves baseball. He isn't the best sideline reporter, and he's the laughing stock of the clubhouse and entire fanbase, but that's why we love him. I don't think any of the players personally hate him either, it's possible that there are some that do, but they seem to pick on him like he's the annoyingdorky little brother. Never Forget .... And this, from early September: Here is his interview with Biagini reacting to it. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/hurricane-barry-writes-song-biagini/ These goofs, are made for each other.

It's totally this King, he even makes light of himself, heck Campbell and Zaun are always taking shots at him, he knows his role and runs with it, he's no dummie.

Although I thought I heard he was no longer doing post season games. I just prefer the regular jays crew, not some people treating Toronto like some arctic wasteland.
