Does anyone else find this late season grind even remotely exciting? I feel like im the only one who enjoys watching these games come down to the wire.

It's hard because it's been like, 75% bad outcomes. Drags on you as a fan. You start expecting them to blow it and the viewing experience becomes almost negative.

As trying as this has been, the top of the 7th in game 5 of the ALDS last year was really draining.

Turning a big deficit into a small one is exciting as hell. Turning a big lead into a small one isn't fun at all. It's all about how you get to this point.

Was Pompey not sprinting home to give them the lead just when everyone thought it was another collapse exciting? I'll agree with the point that it's all about how you get to the point, but if they turn this around and they can, to a deep run in the post season It will be pretty cool to watch.

Its one of those things that looking back I'll realize how fun it was, but the agony game by game is killing me. I almost died after seeing the O's and Tigers lose and Osuna balked

of course when you score like that, and forget the sac fly the wild pitch that pushed pompey up was even more exciting for me! But Ortiz hitting that homer 2 days ago killed me inside for the rest of the day. I'm probably having way too much fun to realize, just wanna secure the 2nd straight post-season appearance first before I can look back and reflect lol

This is my answer to people who try to show people up by pointing out "don't you want competitive baseball in September?"

Being in a good position and then losing 16 games in September to let everyone in the door is not a competitive September. It's a competitive May-August and a September spent throwing buckets of water at a burning house.

As for fun, this isn't fun. Baseball is best on leisurely spring and summer days. Cold weather baseball with enormous stakes is really the opposite of that. But I've allowed myself to become invested, so.

This is another big thing, If I was in the Tigers or M's shoes I would be ecstatic because they weren't exactly guarenteed a spot, and September was great for them. We were #1 in the division entering September and now we're "happy" that we secured a TIEBREAKER (not even a WC spot yet lol). That's a big issue for me, seeing Donaldson play with no leg or hip, Travis boot balls like its made out of sponge and a bunch of other bonehead plays -- as well as the offence deciding to stop hitting really was hard to watch

If it isn't fun don't watch? This is baseball, you're not obligated to watch. Wait to see if they make the post season

Not being fun was probably a stretch, but playoff sports are something other than fun. Fun is involved but if a heartbreaking loss is on the table I think there are many other things going on along with the fun.

fighting to the top is always better to watch. September has been really stressful for most jays fans. the offense completely disappeared and it was all at once. we had a week where we watched a team that couldn't hit or field the ball properly. that Angels series was about the most painful baseball I've ever seen.

This is actually what I've done a lot in the last week+. It's just more palatable to follow to games on the MLB app than it has been to watch a whole Jays game on TV.

Is it a lock Dickey is out of the conversation for playoff roster? I could where you might almost want him starting game 1 against Texas. If they have to use Liriano and Stroman. If that's the case and they make it out alive, I'm not saying concede game one, but you'll need a breather and it's not like it would be a massive surprise to see Dickey go 7 decent innings. You'd have to use Martin, but I still think it could work. Other then that you could use him out of the pen, if you need to survive a blow out, or if your starter can only go 5... or extras. Jays pen is just so bad right now, Dickey might be a viable option.

Unless I'm mistaken, we can just go Estrada and Happ on regular rest. No need for Dickey.

We wouldn't need someone like Dickey until we hit the 7 game series to save bullets, if needed.

You're probably right. I didn't really give this much thought. Still think the pen is so bad he might merit consideration.

Has the start time been announced yet?

No but it'll be 8pm EST since there are no other games.

I'm kind of looking forward to this. The thought of one and out kind of sucks.... but man, think how few and far between a game like this is. Everything left on the field.

Think game 5 vs Texas...

"Beat it Barry!" "Get the f*** out" from Melvin Upton and teammates during Stromans interview was hilarious

Game starts at 8:08 eastern. Televised on TBS.

Perfect, looking forward to it. Very happy I can go to this with the piece of mind I did not buy a ticket to it until after the Red Sox clinched the East. Was never going to make a bet against the Jays repeating as AL East Champions !

I still shake my head every time I think about the 57 minutes that made up the 7th inning, what a roller coaster ride it was.
