Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Jays and St. Louis, are the only line-ups not out.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Well that means JD is there... Yeah, last night he said he'd be there, hopefully playing.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 Happ gotta pitch 7 scoreless
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 At the end of that, he said he'd be in LA and hopefully playing, called it day to day, "but lets wait on the MRI"... that was an answer to why he didn't play the last few games.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 People got this all wrong, what we need to be asking is what is Buck Martinez life time record commentating the Jays. Woof.
puphood Verified Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Boston at the present rate will win 7 more games which would mean the Jays to Tie the division need 9 of the last 12 Games. Hoping the Sox stubble and the Jays have found their stride.....

TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I love the way contending teams have been losing to non-contending teams at a great rate, yet stupid fans will still look at the rest of the schedule and say "this will be a win, and this will be a loss".

Yeah that's true. I think one of the reasons is that September means everything to call ups on noncontending teams and nothing to older players under contract. So those getting playing time that they otherwise wouldn't give everything they have, the games are much more important to a call up reliever than a Grilli playing for the Braves. I mean I can't say it changes the outcome but it sure feels like younger players with stuff to prove rise up in September. It's early try outs for 2017 and everyone loves to play spoiler.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Pentecost over Trea = Romero over Tulo?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Pentecost over Trea = Romero over Tulo? Yeah he's silly good.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Well we know it won't be the Yankees who stubble Yankees swept us and in the process of getting swept by the BoSox letting their lead slip away. We really need some help to win this Div now.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Pentecost over Trea = Romero over Tulo? JPR drafted like an idiot and AA drafted with tunnel vision on pitchers and the hitting drafting was always weak (with the exception of Kris Bryant who decided not to sign). I can't wait until the Shapiro-era drafting starts with the upcoming draft with his new personnel
CBlake Verified Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I don't think you can ever really blame the GM for a draft pick not signing. The slot amount can really be out of whack with what a kid actually gets. Sometimes a kid in the 28th round will get more than what say someone in the 7th round. What's the deal with that?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Gibby says Osuna is available tonight. But Grilli and Benoit are not. Cecil will be the setup man.

If you're not going in the first 2 rounds, it's a crap shoot, the round has very little to do with the talent.

It's the way the system is setup. Rounds 1 through 10 all have slot values assigned to them that count towards the teams signing bonus pool. Rounds 11 through 40 don't count towards anything unless the signing is for more than 100k. Teams will draft seniors in say, Round 6, with a pick that has a slot value of say $400,000 and then they will sign for $1000, allowing that slot money to be used elsewhere. Then you draft high ceiling guys in the later rounds who fell in the draft due to college commitments, and hope they sign.

Gm went on to say that he believed the Jays would have won the WC if Doc didn't get hurt. They were 44 and 41.
