Governator Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Danny Barnes and Wade LeBlanc would be good choices. Barnes' stats look real good in AA and LeBlanc's FIP / K/9 as a starter in AAA could really play up in our BP, possibly improve. Barnes numbers are outstanding, at 27 years old how has he not progressed past AA? Seems like a legitimate pro reliever. Been getting passed for starting prospects?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I bet they're eyeing the Colorado series for his return, coincidentally I could see that.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Maybe Colt Hynes? Matt Dermody maybe?

He should be called right up, why not see what he has, he can't be much worse than what we've been getting from Floyd/Loup/etc lately and maybe he's actually a great addition.

He hasn't had a season in any level with < 10K/9... He at least finds the zone and gets a lot of Ks. Looks like he missed 2013, must have had a serious injury. This would be a good month to bring him up with weaker competition to test the waters.

Aaron Loup throws 92 and relies on a deceptive delivery. i'm so sick of him getting hammered by the 1 batter hes supposed to get out every game. a lot of people point to his advanced stats as a saving grace but they have never even been that good for a RP. somehow he has the lowest xFIP of his career this year too.

I thought Loup was on his way to becoming another Scott Downs for us.

The Blue Jays need a shut-down type of bullpen which they don't have at this point, at least not consistently.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Would think the writing on the wall means Shanchez has maybe 3-4 more starts or 24-28 innings max as a starter left. Bring him with the 85 innings pitched to 109-113 as a starter. Pitching every other day out of the pen from there one inning gives him 38-39 more easy, 158- 162 on the year. But better question at that point does he get shut down or can he still pitch in the playoffs ???
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Lol not even close. Loup is s***. He is now. I said I thought he was going to become another Scott Downs, did I say I was right? Loup was looking like a legit lefty reliever when he broke in.

crazy47larry Verified Member Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I thought Loup was on his way to becoming another Scott Downs for us. i hold scott downs in pretty high regard. mainly because when i first saw him he was absolute dogshit for us and it really amazed me how he turned it around. he proved me so wrong. thing is i remember downs could get righties out. it wasnt his specialty or anything like that and u didnt want to throw him out there every chance but he could do it. loup is kinda of going down the opposite path. plus that downs curveball was pretty sick. i cant really say that about Loups secondaries.

In 2012 when Loup broke in he was pretty solid against righties, he was only 24 with limited experience so I don't think having optimism for improvement should have been out of the question. Downs became an excellent reliever for sure, once again never tried to say Loup is nearly as good, just had optimism he could be when he was 24.
