baseballsss Verified Member Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Who's got the GDT Who has been the biggest winner of this streak? We need the best there is for this series.
mtljaysfan Verified Member Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I'll be happy if we get 2 out of 3 from the Sox this weekend but I'm not feeling comfortable with this Dickey-Price. Hope Jays surprise us tonight. Go Jays!
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Strong is the force for irrational dislike for Jose. Papi routinely snaps at umps and even argues with Mgr publically in past. Has PED past and yet...he is a God. Amazing what being perceived as "clutch" and helping win a couple WS rings will do to get people to overlook issues that they see in other players much more harshly. I also like Papi, but I hope his numbers fall off a f***ing cliff soon. If Jose had been wearing a Red Sox uniform all these years and all the same things happened, the majority of them would have no issue. Sports fans, in general, are idiots. Yes I include myself in that. Lol Also, I'm sure these same BoSox fans would detest Big Papi if he were a Blue Jay.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Kids from Humbercrest Public School in Toronto wrote a letter to Rob Manfred about the whole Bautista/Odor situation and he actually wrote a letter back to them lol http://i.imgur.com/vDEkHGa.png http://i.imgur.com/HLt4Jhn.png
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Kudos to Manfred but I'm surprised he finished with "looking forward to your response" lol
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I hate when adults use kids to pursue an agenda. You think those kids thought of writing this letter on their own?

TorontonianJD Verified Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Assume JD has a thumb/hand injury or soreness after that one AB last night.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 I hate when adults use kids to pursue an agenda. You think those kids thought of writing this letter on their own? It's called teaching. God forbid 9 year olds don't walk into class and say "Teach we should write the Commissioner today".
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 It's called teaching. God forbid 9 year olds don't walk into class and say "Teach we should write the Commissioner today". Right. It taught the kids anything possible can happen if you try. I mean Manfred is far from a celebrity but I think the kids can understand the importance of a man like him, really cool moment for them!

I seriously don't understand why so many people are crying about "exploiting the children so the teacher can get some fame." I would have loved to do something like this when I was kid, it gets everyone engaged and would have been tons of fun. A teacher's job is to make seemingly boring exercises exciting and that's exactly what she did. To top it all off they got a letter back and I guarantee you it made all of those kids' day.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Hopefully JD only needs one day. At least he won't suffer from the Dickey affect tomorrow.

Yeah it's not like she is one of these people who filmed a kid crying because their favourite player got traded. I post most things I find genuinely cool...I know if I was this teacher it would be online, and it would have nothing to do with trying to get me any fame.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 It's called teaching. God forbid 9 year olds don't walk into class and say "Teach we should write the Commissioner today". What did it teach? I can see the value in writing an MPP or MP with the students thoughts on an issue of the day, but to write the MLB commissioner over the Bautista / Odor incident? Asinine.

Such a valuable lesson that teachers proper values. The behaviour in that game was ridiculous, and the teacher saw it as an opportunity to teach several areas. Good on her!

Perhaps the idea is the kids will relate more to a baseball incident, as opposed to the many more critical / important incidents that occur in Canada and around the world on a daily basis.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Yeah, you can only have it one way. These kids are now entrenched and can no longer see other issues. So many critical things will now fail to be addressed by these children in their lives.

You think kids at age 9 or 10 care about MPs or MPPs? Maybe if they are in middle or high school and they understand more about politics. I can guarantee you they don't know or care for the significance of an MP or MPP, and I can also guarantee you that they've seen the Odor punch on Bautista, especially after the Jays run in 2015. The teacher used the opportunity to teach a lot of things, like they voiced their opinion to someone pretty big and they got recognition and a response back to them. That will stick with them

Asinine. why write an MPP or MP, instead write someone who handles important decisions. Honestly, this is what was on the kids minds and in a very violent society anything about anti-violence is a good thing. This is a Neighbourhood that ranked 134th of 140 in Toronto's Equity Index, so writing the govt. doesn't seem to work.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 OK, my mind is changed.... for kids that age, gotta use things they can relate to.

Jane St is pretty s*****, but the worst parts seem to be north of Dundas/St. Clair
