Really strange sequence of events. Assign Girodo to the minors and then run with Tepera over Venditte or Choate then sign Morales then call up Venditte then swap him out (essentially) for Girodo. I didn't hate the Morales signing but it was a really weird way to work through the internal options. Seems like they could have run with Girodo (or one of the other lefties) right out of the gate and see what they had before signing Morales. Breaking camp with Tepera accomplished absolutely nothing and never made any sense.

Yeah Atkins sure has looked like a rookie GM when its come to roster management. A lot of weird moves so far.

After how bad Thole was catching Stroman last time my guess is Martin will be in there. 2 Consecutive days off should be a good rest.

I'm not sure I buy that. I think it would be a lot more clear if they defined what "a complete stop" is. Peavy looks like he stops completely for about a millisecond. If they simply said pitchers must stop for 1 full second, it would take out a lot of the grey area.

 

 

With respect to pitchers changing their delivery to deceive the batter...that's an interesting one. Pitchers have been mixing a full leg kick with a slide step for years. That does 2 things...affects the runners and can alter the timing of the batter. If you're going to try and eliminate the Cueto - you'll have to eliminate all slide steps (or at least pitching switching from a full leg kick to a slide step). I say the batters needs to be ready...

You cant make that determination with 125 gms left given their track records. A couple hot months changes the whole picture for them (and us)
