HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 The Yankees are actually positioned pretty well right now - Sabathia, Teixeira, Beltran are gone after this season - Rodriguez is gone after 2017 They have the bad Headley contract, but for the most part their bad long-term deals are starting to expire. And they have exciting prospects like Bird, Severino, Mateo, Kaprielian, and Judge. hmm true, moving forward they are set obviously due to their huge payroll But in terms of this year they have been a massive clusterf***. They fall any further and I must wonder what kind of haul they'll get for Chapman/Miller
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Kevin Pillar now tied for 18th in WAR among position players at 1.2. Actually ahead of Bryce Harper which is mind boggling. People pissed on him because he was a bad leadoff hitter but he still remains one of the best players on the roster. Nice to see he's cut down his chase rate by more than 10% since last year.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Tulo drops to 6th in the lineup today.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 If you use Montero to pinch hit than you can actually save 'Zeke to pinch run. That's been an issue lately where it's quite obvious that Gibby has no faith in Dominguez. Yeah that's true. I mean adding a body to the bench who can provide anything would be helpful. Zeke can pinch run, Montero can pitch hit, Goins/Barney can be a defensive substitution. So while the bench still sucks that at least they provide SOMETHING. Thole is still a waste.

I remember people saying the Yanks were going to get at much out of Headley for as the Red Sox get out of Pablo - at half the cost. They were right - they both suck nutz.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/aaron-nola-has-baseballs-best-curveball/ Apparently Sanchez has the 5th best curveball in baseball. I never thought I'd write that.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Sports Illustrated did a segment on who would replace Gibby, assuming it will happen soon. They suggested Bud Black. The segment cut off at 28 seconds so I didn't get to see the rest of it.

Pillar provides a lot of defense and baserunning value (to go with a slightly above average bat so far this season) And Harper was ranked 30th among qualified hitters in wRC+ before todays games. Obviously you take Harper over Pillar 10 times out of 10 going forward. But it's just stating what has happened so far.

Andrus for some reason jumping out of the dugout after a first inning home run, Odor crying over getting tagged too hard, Dyson just being super unattractive. f*** I'm glad we ended up winning.

Odor crying over JD's tag was pathetic, grown athlete butt hurt of a tag. Donaldson did nothing wrong.

They do have Adrian Beltre though and he's an international treasure. Andrus doesn't bug me but f*** Sam Dyson and Odor. Bannister is kind of annoying as well.

Of course that nonsense just reminds me of the same thing with Machado. I love how even the ump was laughing about it. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/pyhohuksniaoytahpuyb.gif

Sounds like the Braves are targeting him though.

I get all of that man - but it's times like this I must admit I don't 100% buy into the stats suggesting Pillar's been more valuable than Harper to date. O's must be so happy they didn't get Fowler. 2 WAR already.
