Another cheap ass pick up by Rogers as they cant be bothered to pay Encarnacion. As was mentioned on the Jays Nest pod cast (I think??) over 20 teams declined to pick him up.....

Obviously, that's how the Jays were able to get him.

Edwin Encarnacion once cleared waivers which means NO ONE wanted him. He probably should have just quit baseball.

Remember when we DFAed him, and everybody on the BJMB was ecstatic about it? Then Oakland claimed him, and then immediately waived him again before he even played a game, then we re-claimed him and said "you're a 1B now," and he's pretty well been a Top 15 hitter in baseball ever since then.

But if he would have stayed with Oakland think of all the money we could have saved from not paying him over the past 5 years.

Same. That offseason I predicted EE would have a higher OPS than Fielder the next season, and he did. Toot! Toot!

Boxcar was on that train, also.

Entering 2012, ESPN's Keith Law raved about Montero's advanced approach at the plate and compared him to Frank Thomas, but the prospect didn't exactly deliver his first year with the Mariners. His strikeout rate dropped dramatically to 17.9 percent, but so did his walk rate (5.2 percent), wOBA (.295), ISO (.126), and wRC+ (90). From here we know the rest of the story. Montero struck out more, walked less, and never hit for power or average at the major league level.

Keith Law is wrong about every single prospect he ever talks about. Seriously.

So Montero is out of options but he isn't onnthe opening 25 man rostet

Maybe the Jays talked to him before claim him. He's happy because he could be the name Jays late bloomer. He knows Jays are good developing veterans minor league hitters

Montero cleared waivers and was sent to Buffalo. Basically, the claim was no more than a move to get him to Buffalo to play every day in AAA.

He can refuse the assignment, like he refused the ice cream bar.
