Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I'm pretty sure the Marlins were given the first offer to go. Given the strong (anti-Castro) Cuban expat population in Miami, they were smart enough to say no, rather than have a Cuban-led boycott in Miami. A lot of the older generation of Cuban-Americans are just as extreme as the government they despise. It's pretty embarrassing tbh.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 This is incredible. Just tuned on KK's hit. Great spectacle for their country and MLB. Been to Cuba 5 times and love it. Baseball is such a passion there. I'm thrilled to see Obama reaching out to re-establish relations, but selfishly one of my fav things about going to Cuba is lack of 'Muricans. When I went, I brought of bunch of new Little League baseballs still in the plastic as tips. Gave almost every employee at the resort one, and gave our favourite guy 2 pairs of new baseball pants for his 2 sons. They absolutely loved the new balls and we got amazing service afterwards. Whenever a Cuba game was on TV, almost the whole staff was in the lobby watching.

Maybe you would have a different perspective if you actually lived through it. You can't relate too those people.

Pretty much all of my family has lived through it. If you saw the comments and actions of the people I'm referring to you would understand.
