People here seem pretty keen on letting both walk unless we sign a couple elite bats to sweetheart contracts. Do people actually have suggestions of replacing them because we really don't have anything internally and you have to spend money on someone.

Reddick, Moss, Santana if his option is declined. There's options

Mainly though the pitching needs to get better in order to lessen the blow to the offense

DH isn't hard to replace. OF is going to be tougher because you have Saunders as a FA as well. You hope Pompey or Alford can replace one of the spots but that might be too tough a task this early into their careers.

Pffff prospects will help us win.

Did you not notice that 5 of the last 6 WS champions are teams with a lot of cheap homegrown talent? Prospects turn into cheap MLB talent, which is critical to success.

But I don't like waiting for prospects to develop! Give me the aging vets!! Dickey trade 2.0!!!

A lot of guys are still there though and Shapiro values makeup. Lind could have been had for little this offseason if the Jays really wanted him.

Yup, just what this team needs is another 1B/DH.

I really like Reddick that would be a great option. Donaldson could recruit him for sure. Moss looks like he can have a bounce back season and Santana at DH as well is intriguing.

Is team willing to out go out and aquire a top tier pitcher in free agency? Thats what we need. Resign Cecil and our pen should be fine.

I don't know if Alford would be ready by next year. This is a big year for Pompey as well hes. Hes gotta to be ready to step into an Outfield spot incase of injury or under performance by Pillar or Saunders. I doubt they take Pillar out of the lineup even if he struggles though.

I would really like to bring atleast one of them back. And I lean towards Bautista. Him being a couple years older than Edwin doesn't bother me as much because of the shaps hes in.

I'm not so sure Pompey develops into a starter. He's really got to improve his routes on defense and he has struggled with the strikeouts in MLB competition so far. His speed makes him have a good floor as a 4th OF but can he take that next step?

Agree with you on Bautista. Edwin always seems to have some sort of lingering injury and now might not even start the season.

No knock on Shatkins, but I think the 2016 Toronto Blue Jays are a better team with AA running it.

Alright... And what about the 5 years after 2016?

Jays don't need Lind this season though...

Jesus. You seem to take a very dim view of prospects. Have some faith. Also, a player under control doesn't even have to be good to return more surplus value than a player on a market contract.

Faith? What does that even mean, ignoring prospect tendencies and attrition rate because he's a Blue Jay? Please correct me if I'm wrong. BB says a lot of really dumb s*** but that wasn't anything unreasonable.

Faith = belief with no supporting evidence.

They might, once Bautista and Edwin leave next year

Key word... "Next Year" I was responding to his post of getting Lind this offseason on the cheap.

Edwin or Jose for Mazara kind of asset

Imagine Bautista playing for the Rangers. Suddenly they'd be cool with bat flips.

But I like Brinson more than Mazara.

Maybe the wrong word. But trusting in the unproven commodity as opposed to the proven.

At some point you have to trust or have faith in rookies. Last year several posters were calling for Jays to sign a FA two bagger, BB in particular. Everth Cabrera for example, he of the .250 OBP in 2015. Cuz Travis raw, unproven, etc.

Who has the best chance to be this year's Travis? Pompey.

Give the man a real chance.

The point people seem to forget is if the jays are out of it by the deadline payroll is going to shrink. Best case for the blue jays future is to win and make the playoffs, let Bautista and Edwin walk while having a $160 million payroll next season. If the Jays falter payroll goes back into the $120 range or lower and sets the fanbase back years again.

Ted - is that you? how the f*** do you know the payroll will drop to $120M if the Jays don't win this year? You're certainly doing your best to repeat as the worst poster...

Easy with the facts man...

Isn't he... the speculation daily is absurd.
