Taken just 5 minutes ago, the first blue jay I've seen at the feeder this winter. A good omen on the first day of live baseball, I think.

Sorry for crappy pics though. My cheap phone doesn't have a great camera and I had to use digital zoom, as if I get too close to the window the birds will fly away.

Very cool when I was in PEI I saw a bunch of them but rarely in Ontario although they are here. Always have Orioles in my backyard. Thats when I let the cat out.

A cardinal hit the window and died a few weeks ago. Unfortunate, but maybe another omen in that they will finally miss the playoffs!

We don't get many Bluejays in BC, but from the sounds of it, they are pricks just like the Magpies out this way.

 

My old cat wouldn't even go outside after a while because of the fear of getting dive-bombed by the SOBs.
