G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 OK Saunders must be f***ed
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Remember when Philly had that amazing farm system? Drabek, D'Arnaud, Gose, Singleton, Domonic Brown, Taylor, Carlos Carrasco. One pretty good player (D'Arnaud), one star (Carlos Carrasco) and then bunch of busts.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 There - now we don't need to trade for Jay Bruce and pay him $13.5M... I don't mind this as a depth move....we need OF depth.

TBJ12 Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Didn't we trade Bautista for this guy after his big season in 2013?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Domonic over Travis.... No me gusta
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Domonic over Travis.... No me gusta Travis Snider?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Would have preferred Dominic Dunn
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 pretty good shot-in-the-dark signing. Maybe a change of scenery helps. He's been pretty putrid lately however.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Get that man his standard issue Blue Jays leg kick!
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Dom Brown - meet Tewks...he'll be working with you for the next 2 months to resurrect your career.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Domonic over Travis.... No me gusta I'd sign him up on a minor league deal / invite too!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 No risk. Only potential reward. Our own JD Martinez?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 crazy that this guy was the best prospect in baseball one time.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Good move. Brown has been bad but it's a minor league deal and he might be someone that is fixable. Get Donaldson's hitting coach on the line.

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Remember a few years ago that Philly guy started the rumour for like 24 hours of a Joey Bats for Brown trade.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Nice outfield depth i guess.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Dom Brom put up a .351 wOBA in 139 games in 2013. That's actually slightly better than what Jay Bruce put up that year (.344), the last time either of them was good. This is a pretty interesting low cost move and it doesn't involve moving Saunders, it's just potentially adding another (intriguing) body to the mix. If this is the plan B for not getting Bruce, I can't say I mind it at all.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 How's his defense?

His K & BB rates were both solid and there is latent power. Maybe just too much length in the swing or trouble with offspeed. I like it as a minor league depth signing. He's probably garbage, but at least there is some ceiling there unlike the garbage we already had (looking at you, Ezequiel).
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 the power is real if you can fix whatever fatal flaw he has in his approach.
