If the deal from the Jays end is just Saunders for Bruce, then I don't see why it would make anyone think less of Shapiro. I'm not a Bruce fan by any means, but Saunders is not even close to a sure thing as far as staying healthy, and Bruce does have some offensive upside. To me it comes down to 1. how much money the Reds are picking up, and 2. what else the Jays are giving up. If it's Saunders for Bruce with the Jays not picking up any (or much) salary and no prospect is involved, and it's a meh trade at worst. It really depends on those two things.

 

Of course, reviewing Saunders' records might take us into the start of the season.

And let's all be real here, Saunders will never be healthy for a whole season, do you guys want some AAAA scrub getting run out there. Bruce atleast has potential. There's room for his babip to improve and he still has his power.
