You asked me, gun to my head, whether Griffey and Bonds used PEDs, stating that, in the event I was wrong either way, I'm dead. It's not a case where I know for sure Griffey used, but if my life depended on getting it right, the safe bet is to say he did. For the fourth (4th!!) f***ing time, whether a player used PEDs is either an extremely minor factor for me or not one at all; example, I'll take Edmonds over Sosa by a hair because I believe he was more skilled and PEDs allowed Sosa to excel at the one thing he did well. That's not to say I wouldn't vote for Sosa, as I'm sure that's the conclusion someone with your smarts would draw, but I would use that as a last resort tie breaker depending on what the player particularly excelled at and whether PEDs would have been a bigger help than if he was just fast or something.

Not on his own merit necessarily. As of right now he wouldn't make my ten since the field is so stacked, but Edgar Martinez was:

1) a much better hitter

2) actually played third for a few years unlike completely position less Ortiz

 

My issue would lie with the fact that the superior player who has the same biases (DHs shouldn't be in the hall) didn't get in while Ortiz did. I think anyone intelligent would have derived that from my post.

 

It was about 250 more games in the field, but ya I'd put Edgar in over papi despite the power and postseason numbers.

Palmeiro and Sosa sucked defensively, no other attributes to their game besides kissing the Sky and loving their god at home plate. Manny at least tried to play a position and be the absolute best RHPB I've ever seen. They had nothing on Manny!
