Forum Top Prospects

After some discussion with forum vets, we've decided to do the top prospect this year a little differently this year. We'll return to the way in which I conducted it for several years on the old forum instead of doing an open poll. King did an excellent job the past couple years and contributed a lot to this already, so many thanks to him.

 

So far, we've come up with this list of potential participants:

I'd like to add 5-10 more participants who know their prospects well and won't dilute the quality of the list. Please confirm your involvement if on the list, or state your case if you are not on the list and are interested.

 

Please DO NOT post your list here or discuss who you think should be on it. This method works because participants are forced to take a hard look at the scouting reports and stats to make their evaluations based on critical thinking. Too often, it's a contest to see who has Player X the highest or lowest and we don't want that.

 

Lists should be 15 players in length and in my experience, should result in a final list of between 20 and 25 players. Participants can send me their lists via PM and I'll compile them when the time comes. Rookie eligibility applies, so Dalton Pompey is not eligible.

I used to years ago. Now, outside of the top ~150, I know pretty much nothing. I shouldn't be included in this.

I think that the depth of prospects under consideration in the board dynasty leagues should mean that almost anyone in those leagues should be able to contribute in an informed way, if they want.

There are a few names there that probably don't follow prospects too closely, but I doubt they'd want to be involved anyway (eg,. connorp).

And, obviously, a bunch of those guys couldn't care less. But a few people on this list might want in.

Fwiw, metafour is someone who follows the Jays system and other minor leaguers very closely. Though some might disagree with some of his opinions, including the impact of scouting vs stats, his prospect knowledge is undeniable.

I would love to participate. My rankings would give a little different viewpoint on the prospects. I look at how the prospect is used, what they were working on, etc...to put their stats in a better understanding. Might be a little different than some on here.

Yep, cause I don't like McCutchen and if we traded Hoffman, it should have been for an ACE pitcher. It's about building a team that actually wins games not playing fantasy baseball.

No I am not. I just don't like him...people are allowed to just not like someone, has nothing to do with race.
