List of teams eliminated:

Indians

Tigers

Rangers

Padres

Orioles

Red Sox

Cardinals

Blue Jays

Mets

Yankees

Dodgers

Angels

Nationals

Teams not yet confirmed to be out of it:

Mariners

Diamondbacks

Pirates

Rays

Royals

White Sox

Astros

Phillies

Marlins

Cubs

Rockies

Giants

Reds

Twins

Athletics

Braves

Brewers

I'll go with ehjays and Spanky and says Pirates for obvious reasons. If not them then maybe the Athletics or Mariners.

Most AL East teams are out of it, so that's good for us, at least.

Mariners do make some sense. Moving Lomo may signal that they were confident in their bid. A large Asian population and a need at first base both exist.

Glad the Jays didn't win the bidding. Unless the numbers I looked at were wrong, Eric Thames had a better season than this guy. I'm happy to watch some other team conduct a $40M experiment.

As a baseball fan, fingers crossed for Byung-Ho Coors.

CarGo-Arenado-Dickerson-Park --> fireworks

Reyes and Blackmon could steal 30 each, all four of those ^ dudes could hit 30+ each, and the Rockies would probably still lose 90 games.

If they get Park, maybe then I'll understand not picking up Morneau's option.

Teams left

I can't possibly imagine the Reds or Cubs being in on him.

Reds won the bid. They already have a deal set up with the Jays and Votto.

Haha, no thanks. We don't need more bats, we need someone to win 16 to 23 games each year for the next 6 years.

From 1994 to 2014, we were 8th out of 30 teams in pitching WAR and 22nd out of 30 teams in position player WAR. Unsurprisingly, we were basically a .500 team that entire time.

If anything, the past 20 years has shown that we didn't have enough hitting.

I think I get your idea but what you stated is too general and does not correspond to the fact that the teams that win the AL and NL leagues are almost invariably one of the best 5 teams each year in limiting Runs Allowed; in fact during the years 1995 - 2015, the worst in the AL was the Boston Red Sox in 2013 who were 6th best in limiting RA.

I went through the records of Blue Jays teams of the past 23 years and what is needed is a good balanced attack. The current Blue Jays, unlike some past teams, have more than enough offense to go with a good team defensively.

Here is a compilation of runs scored (RS), runs allowed (RA) and team records for the past 23 seasons (excluding the strike-shortened 1994 season for which there was no World Series) - taken from this link http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp#20151004

What?

Heyward + Jo Jo Reyes >> Johnny Cueto or Zimm.

You could improve a baseball team with more offensive player or more pitching.

Alvarez would be a nice buy low option, power left handed bat between Bautista and Encarnacion....

He might be better than Smoak as a platoon option with Colabello, but I certainly wouldn't hit him in the middle of the order. Maybe 6th

I'd prefer Justin Mourneau as a buy low option. Catching the ball is a relatively important part of first base. You have the wrong Alvarez as the buy low option. Hopefully Marlins Non-Tender Henderson.
