Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I guess you could call both options. They could stay on and be Shapiro's little bitches. Chance they both leave too. Nish is my boy so I am rooting for him.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Will update the list as we get them. Andrew Tinnish, AGM, Toronto Blue Jays Tony LaCava, AGM, Toronto Blue Jays Alex, LaCava, Tannish and Gibbons are a team. Maybe they go all.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Speaking of LaCava... How reliable is Westhead? This sounds made up. I mean "good chance" could just be code for "pure speculation"
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Think Tinnish has a good shot at the job

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I'm pretty sure AA leaving shows that Shapiro doesn't want a big name GM. He just needs a yes man that is willing to take on a face-value role. Shapiro is the one who is going to be making the decisions here.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Kenny Williams and Dan Duquette top candidates.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 How reliable is Westhead? This sounds made up. I mean "good chance" could just be code for "pure speculation" No idea. Some TSN radio reporter also confirmed the scolding incident, but personally idk if he's too reliable
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Think Tinnish has a good shot at the job I would be happy if he took the GM position to be honest
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 (edited) No idea. Some TSN radio reporter also confirmed the scolding incident, but personally idk if he's too reliable It says in Westhead's bio that he's a TSN correspondent. The radio reporter might be just parroting him. Edited October 29, 2015 by KingKat

Oh I didn't notice that. Then I guess we can take this stuff with a grain of salt until someone closer to the team confirms it
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Speaking of LaCava... Minasian is one of the guys that re-assured AA with every single move he did. And hasn't a f***ing clue about baseball. It's great for the Jays that he is leaving.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I don't know about gm but I hope Brian Parker is kept and promoted to assistant gm and remain in control of scouting. Man blends talent with upside well.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I hear Shapiro is still tight with Omar Vizquel.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Derek Falvey. New AGM in Cleveland. Shapiro plucked him pretty much out of school.
Nafro Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 John Manuel just indicated it is likely someone who was a Shapiro lieutenant in Cleveland. I thought he said Russell somebody, but I looked at Cleveland's front office and don't see any Russell's.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 If Kapler doesn't get the field manager position with the Dodgers (although I think he will) he'd be an interesting candidate. Smart, Jewish, blocked in the Dodgers F.O.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Well whoever reassured AA of all his moves this year, i hope that guy is kept. Yeah I didn't get that comment - unless he's saying AA has no clue about baseball and the Jays are better off without him...
metafour Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 paul hoynes @hoynsie 10m10 minutes ago Ohio, USA Just a hunch, but I bet Ross Atkins, Indians director of player personnel, gets consideration for Toronto's vacant GM spot. Atkins interviewed for the Angels GM job a month ago. A pitcher for Cleveland from 1995 to 1999 (LINK), Atkins was named the director of player development for the Indians in 2006, after having served as the director of Latin American operations for three years prior. In his development role, he oversaw all aspects of player development, including Cleveland's six minor-league affiliates, as well as their Latin American program in the Dominican Republic. In 2014, Atkins was promoted to VP of player personnel. All in all, Ross Atkins has been a part of the Indians organization for over 15 years. He has also received praise from Cleveland's GM Chris Antonetti, who sees him as a future GM candidate. Well, the future is now, apparently.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 If Shapiro has his hands on all trades & signings, whoever they bring in is just a face. Mark Shapiro President & Behind the Scenes GM Toronto Blue Jays.
Nafro Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Ross Atkins...that's who John Manuel said, I thought I heard Russ.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Whoever is hired as GM I hope they have half the work ethic AA had. A lot of the reason why he was so good was because he was able to trade for players who GMs didn't really put them on the market.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Oh well...ho hum...another boring and entirely predictable Blue Jays off season underway.
art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Oh well...ho hum...another boring and entirely predictable Blue Jays off season underway. i agree. they may get one that will have _better_ results, then there's no way he'll show more passion for the job; for AA being where he came from and who he is, it's not an exaggeration to say for him it was a labor of love
nmrch Verified Member Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 If Shapiro has his hands on all trades & signings, whoever they bring in is just a face. Mark Shapiro President & Behind the Scenes GM Toronto Blue Jays. That isn't Shapiro's style, so i don't know where people are getting this from. Antonetti had quite a bit freedom in Cleveland under Shapiro, he's not a micromanager but like any other President he will have veto power and also the authority to dictate the general direction that the franchise should be going in. It appears to me that AA wanted to be the ultimate authority on baseball decisions, so in reality he wanted Shapiro to be his puppet and a President in name only not the otehr way around.
