burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Sounded like AA wanted more LH bats for the lineup. Also sounds like Saunders will be brought back if they deem him healthy enough which I think would be a smart move.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Hopefully this means they'll go after Heyward Oh god, that would be a dream signing. RF Heyward 3B Donaldson 1B Bautista DH Encarnacion SS Tulowitzki C Martin 2B Travis CF Pillar LF Revere Beastly.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Heyward is going to get a ton of money me thinks.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Heyward is going to get a ton of money me thinks. Rightly so, but probably not as much as Price.

RF Heyward 3B Donaldson 1B Bautista DH Encarnacion SS Tulowitzki C Martin 2B Travis CF Pillar LF Revere Beastly. I'd pretty much give Heyward whatever he wants. He is the exact guy you give a huge contract to. Young - It will be his 26 year old season. Hitter Consistent Skills - Defense and walk rate Also, take Revere out and add Colabello in at 1B. Heyward in LF/CF, Pillar in LF/CF and Bautista in right.

Young - It will be his 26 year old season. Hitter Consistent Skills - Defense and walk rate I can't help but feel there's more offensive ceiling there, too. He had a .210 ISO as a 23 year old, so I think there is latent 30 HR power there, which would obviously play up in our park.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 What do we think Heyward gets? 8-9 years and 220 million?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 What do we think Heyward gets? 8-9 years and 220 million? I'd set the O/U at 10 years, $250M. I could see the Yankees and Cubs breaking their piggy banks for him.

Maybe being beside guys like Donaldson and Bautista will help him. I've heard his swing is pretty bad but I can't see a player like him overhauling his swing since he is already pretty successful.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Yankees have to be salivating at the thought of adding a mid-prime star to their ageing lineup. He's perfect for crust short RF porch too.

Can't really see the Yankees with Ellsbury and Gardiner still locked up. Heyward would be a waste in RF in that ballpark. I can see the Dodgers signing him once they trade Puig.

I don't think it's a waste at all, Heyward could easily pop 30 HR playing half his games at that short porch, plus the Yankees OF defense would be super elite.

Maybe waste was the wrong word. I'd honestly put him in CF if I were the Yankees.
Slugger Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 go after joey votto, have the reds eat off a big chunk of that contract and ship them a few top prospects. this lineup needs a quality left handed bat Ah, yes. The "simply go and acquire Joey Votto" option.
A0FF Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I expect AA to be very active again in the trade market this winter. He also seems to revisit a lot of talks he had before, so I expect one of Cleveland's young arms to once again be high on the list. No way they don't have a busy off season after this year. Once you get a taste of post season ball, you want back in badly.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Ah, yes. The "simply go and acquire Joey Votto" option. I wonder how Walt Jocketty would react to that phone call. "Hey Walt, you guys are poor as s*** and obviously can't afford your MVP candidate. I'm thinking we send you a few mid-tier prospects for him. Also, you eat, say, $50M. Deal?"
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Let's get Heyward AND Price!!

Are you sure you're not replacing AA? You sound like a genius baseball mind.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Let's get Heyward AND Price!! Hahah bringing our payroll to about $170M before re-signing Estrada or picking up Dickey's option.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Agree that Toronto should sign Joey Votto
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Agree that Toronto should sign Joey Votto Dunno if Toronto wants to deal with the custom tailoring to make his pants extra tight.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Back to back joey Bats and Votto would pretty much be a pitchers worst nightmare with their pitch selection abilities. Dare to dream.

Slugger Verified Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Back to back joey Bats and Votto would pretty much be a pitchers worst nightmare with their pitch selection abilities. In this line-up Votto would be about as good a lead-off man as conceivably possible.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Votto, Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin, Tulo, Martin. Damn. That would be one hell of a top six in the order. Expensive as hell, but exciting to watch everyday. Not going to happen though.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 In this line-up Votto would be about as good a lead-off man as conceivably possible. I'd put him 3rd to break up the righties. I'd probably go: Bautista Donaldson Votto EE Tulo Martin

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Heyward scares me a bit, so much of his value is tied up in his legs. When those start to go, he's probably a 2-3 WAR player. I feel like someone is really gonna regret the back end of his contract.
