TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 What's with the Revere hate? "Our slap hitting .300 hitter sucks! Waaaaa" its the hollowest .300 average in the history of baseball bud. Pompey is a better defender as well.
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 There's a lot of people on here saying revere has been s*** in the playoffs but it's simply not true. He had at least one hit in every game vs the rangers and finished the ds with roughly a .300 avg. also I can't recall any times his d has hurt us either. He just hasn't done anything in the alcs so far. .300 with a .625 OPS is AWWWWWWWSUMMMMMM
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Those missed RISP opportunities loom large.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 .300 with a .625 OPS is AWWWWWWWSUMMMMMM He's a slap hitter. What do you want from him?
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 He's a slap hitter. What do you want from him? Him not to be a slap hitter. Slap hitters suck. He has a career .677 OPS. Do you not understand the value of the basic stat OPS? .677 is f***ing horrible. No wonder you f***ed up your stubhub tickets.
Soft Hands Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 .300 with a .625 OPS is AWWWWWWWSUMMMMMM I know revere is jacked but he's not a power hitter. and if we're relying on revere for power we're f***ed.
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I know revere is jacked but he's not a power hitter. and if we're relying on revere for power we're f***ed. We're done here. If you are going to continue to argue that a guy with a career OPS well south of .700 is a good hitter I can't take you seriously.

OPS for a guy with speed who is there to get on for the big boys isn't a great stat for his value. He has had a rough couple games but he is the type of hitter who could have 3 or 4 hits on Monday.

And then you will love him again. you cannot seriously argue with me that Revere is a plus hitter. You just can't.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Revere is better in left than Colabello, that's why he was needed this year. Next year is a different story.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 who gives a s*** about revere. where's our f***ing MVP at? Hasn't been very MVP like that's fo sho.
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 who gives a s*** about revere? where's our f***ing MVP at? Agreed, he needs to show up too. Most of the team has been s***. I am not trying to only pick on Revere. I just agreed with a previous poster who wanted to see Pompey given a shot. Then for some reason a few geniuses decided to argue that Revere is a stud .300 hitter while ignoring OPS. I can't let that go unchecked. BTW, SSS, but despite Pompey have what most would call a horrible start to his career, his career OPS is higher than Revere's. And he's just as fast, and plays better D. Then factor in his higher ceiling.

This is like saying JB sucks because of his BA; for a power/run producer guy, OPS is meaningful. for a guy that you want to get on-base for the big poppers to come up, it's not

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 What's Revere's avg with RISP since alds game 1? It seems that he always chokes with RISP.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 So is Ryan Goins. And then you will love him again. you cannot seriously argue with me that Revere is a plus hitter. You just can't. He is a fast hacker who doesn't BB a lot and has no power. You are comparing Goins to a guy who led the NL in hits before....and who hit well for us? There is much more chance Revere will get 3 hits next gm than Goins.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 This is like saying JB sucks because of his BA; for a power guy, OPS is meaningful. for a guy that you want to get on-base for the big poppers to come up, it's not we have our OPS in 2-4 slots. we need OBP for 1, 8, 9 and a balance in 5,6,7. KC is pitching outer edge and jays are still trying to pull. Can't do that in their park. might work in the RC

You want to argue on base now? His career on base average is .328 But hey, he lead the league in hits last year! That must make him the best player in the league! Pay him 30 MILLIONS! What is this, 1980? This is so dumn.
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 The missed popup by Goins certainly hurt the Blue Jays. This is where stats just don't tell the real story. The missed popup wasn't even recorded as an error, but as a hit. The Royals also stayed out of a double play by stealing 2nd in the 7th on a ground ball. It is a sad result, however the Blue Jays have a couple of days to regroup and will hopefully be able to hit some homeruns at the Rogers Centre, which they couldn't do in Kauffman Stadium.

Yeah it seems like Revere hasn't been getting on base enough since the playoffs started. Very few walks. What's his playoff obp this year?
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Look, I apologize for losing it RE: Revere. I'm just really pissed about this game and in a bad mood. Nevertheless, I don't have any more time to argue with those who feel that Ben Revere is a stud because he lead the league in hits one year, while ignoring more important stats. I'm done on this topic. We'll agree to disagree.

Dude, shut the f*** up. Nobody is saying Revere is an amazing hitter. He's around average. But he has other things that make him valuable. Great contact, speed, solid defense. He's a decent player. MUCH more valuable than Ryan Goins.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Yeah it seems like Revere hasn't been getting on base enough since the playoffs started. Very few walks. What's his playoff obp this year? I'll answer my own question. 2015 playoff OBP for Revere = .286. Not good.

The only thing I was reacting to was associating OPS with Revere We are closer to agreeing than you may think
FirstPitchStrike Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Goins really f***ed up and got the inning started on a bad note. Though there should be no excuses for David Price. He's an ace and he should have been able to navigate through that inning. He wanked out. Am I the only one that heard someone yell I got it? I actually thought it was Goins calling off Jose. A fan maybe?
