I don't even remember when I started posting on the old board. Must've been right around the time JP took over. Been in a few battles over the years over there. Who can blame any of us? With the baseball we were forced to endure most nights, it was a great place to vent.

There have been some lean years...some REALLY lean years. Horrendous baseball, abysmal players along the way, and some real talent mixed in here and there, talent that must've felt like they were on a deserted island at times.

Remember Shea's sinking ship? For a while, I wondered if the f***er was prophetic.

I attended a game where there must've been no more than 5-6000 in the stands. There were days I though baseball in Toronto was really in jeopardy.

Yes, we've come a long way, and only the ones who suffered through it all can really appreciate rare moments like today. What a great feeling when Bautista spanked that bomb. Pure joy. The kind of unexpected, pent up and sudden joy that only sports can really provide.

f*** what a day!

Cheers slugger. We've all suffered a lot of years together, but this makes it worth it.

On the topic of the old forum, this one is also for our late friend Kirksaw. I'm not religious, but if he is watching somewhere then we're thinking of him.

God I miss Kirksaw.

I didn't realize he passed, that's terrible.

Yes, rest in peace to Kirksaw, I had many friendly exchanges with him on the old board. Always seemed like a very well-spoken and well-knowledgeable person. Rest in peace.

Anyone here remember alt.rec.mlb.bluejays or whatever the message board community from the nineties was called? I remember arguing the merits of prospects like Eric Hinske, Guilermo Quiroz and Dustin McGowan on there. I don't remember what any of the handles on there were. I don't even remember what mine was. Definitely wasn't KingKat. I think I've only had that handle since 2005.

You have no idea how many Guilermo Quiroz and Dustin McGowan rookie cards I own. :(

Been watching forever but only following since, idk, roughly around when Russ Adams killed Aaron Hill (I think that's what happened?).

So this reminds me. I think my autographed Roberto Osuna rookie card might have some value.

Wasn't Russ. It was either J-Mac or Eckstein...

I would think. I bought 3 Marcus Stroman rookie cards on http://www.thepit.com this morning. I have way too much money invested on that site. Kind of cool though. I've had an account since like 2000. Sports card trading like a stock market.

Love you too, man. And that astronaut dog avatar you've got.

What year is his rookie card from?

Yeah, it was Eckstein. All scrappy white guys anyway. I was thinking of Russ + Hill's fake-but-probably-not-fake bromance and wedding.

I think it's his Topps one from this year that I got in ~April for $5 as an investment, lol

Not really a rookie card I don't think. It would've been in the good old days, but now as soon as you start growing pubes 50 card companies make a card of you.

Yeah IFA's can be wacky with rookie cards. The USA sets Topps puts out can also mess with "true rookie card"

It looks like Osuna's rookie is 2013 Bowman Chrome. There's also an Elite Extra auto rookie from 2013. He has an appalachian league 2012 card, which is a minor league card

I remember that, I was 13 years old or something on my old compaq desktop. The only people I remember from there are gibbers, kirksaw, winiwalt and mac33 (never came to new forum), maybe ECJF a couple of others.

I remember joining in 2008, stirring up s***. I calmed down after I was temporarily banned once or twice. Lots of posters then post here now.

I lurked the old boards from time to time, but by the time the playoff drought had finally pissed me off enough to make me start posting, everyone had already migrated here.

I was always an Expos fan first and foremost, but I did keep tabs on the Jays as my AL team even through the dark ages (and obviously kept rooting for them after the Expos moved): the championship hangover in the strike year, Tim Johnson's fake war stories, the depressing 2006 and 2013 seasons, Ted Lilly and Gibbons' slapfight, having to root for douchebags like Eric Hinske, J.P. Arencibia, Josh Towers and his JTIs, David Wells, etc.

I never imagined I'd actually witness this day after 21 years of crawling through the shitpile like that scene in Shawshank Redemption. This team is something special.

Hahahaha amazing

I had to look it up too:

Marlon Byrd: 8 WAR since 2011

Carl Crawford: 6.1 WAR

LOL. Funny how things turn out.
