Bad record scoring less than 4 runs.... Perhaps pitching????? Perhaps defence???

The offence is not the problem. Don't f*** it up.

Lol...Their pitching was not the problem after the deadline, neither was their defence. And neither was their hitting for that matter. The Cecil injury hurt us huge.

This team was primed for a World Series berth, but their unwillingness to play small ball and do the little things right got them an ALCS loss. 0 for 12 with RISP and an unwillingness to bunt, move runners over, and relying on power to win resulted in them losing. All I'm proposing is moving Donaldson into a position to drive in more runs.....really..you guys are f***ing making way too much out of this. This will result in the Jays scoring more runs, putting more pressure on opposing pitchers and defence's yet you think I shouldn't f*** around with anything.

You guys sound like Gibbons.

Yes, it's definitely not that your ideas and issues are absurd, but that everyone else is a dumbass.

Dude, they stole three bases in the ninth inning last night. They small-balled like crazy. They just couldn't bat the ball in play with under two outs.

And, by the way, the Royals won with two home runs and some long singles. So while you want the Blue Jays to Royal, the Royals actually Blue Jayed to victory.

Not true. He misused Cecil for a good chunk of the year and Lowe since they acquired him because of a couple of bad outings. He also misused Sanchez. I bailed on Gibbons's BP usage since 2014 when he scoffed at using his best relievers early in a game to bail out Morrow and keep game close.

Remember, Cecil blew his first save opportunity and lost his closer's role right away.

Anyway, Gibbons will be back 'cause he's AA's buddy. It's sort of how Beeston wasn't gonna fire AA because he hired him in some part because he could probably influence him and have some say in baseball ops.

I never liked Cecil as a closer anyways and it's not like it was the wrong decision, Osuna had a hell of a year and it gave us the chance to have a lefty we can use instead of reserving him exclusively in the 9th. Personally speaking I think Gibby's BP management is going to improve with a better pen. All around he's not as bad as people make him to be, but when games are as crucial as the postseason/in the chase for the AL East crown, every small issue becomes magnified

The Blue Jays scored 127 more runs than any other team. The idea that the Jays need to look to the Royals to learn how to build an offense is folly.

This was a great team. Treasure that.

Was a great team? Still is the best freaking team in the AL! ;)

Dalton Pompey stole two bases, and Pillar was given 2nd. If Pompey wasn't in the game...do you really think Martin would've stolen those bases? Do you think Pillar is bunting.

Fact is..if they played better small-ball throughout the game, the Jays wouldn't of needed the 9th inning comeback attempt. They screwed up with Revere at 2nd nobody out in inning 1, and Goins had runners on and couldn't bunt them over...and many other times.

Good pitching will always beat good hitting...maybe I'm trying to think of ways the Jays can score more cheap runs rather than having to walk and plug up the bases and hope for a home run. Use your heads.

I think you're the one who needs to use your head. The Jays scored the most runs in baseball. This is not debatable. To think that the best offense in the world could be taking pointers from some internet warrior who thought of this overnight is absurd.

And?

Where did all of those teams finish? Not in the playoffs...maybe because they didn't hit more non-solo shots? Maybe that would've helped. The difference is the Jays lineup 1-9 is much better than those 3 teams. The Royals had 6/9 hitters with OBP over .340. Toronto had 3 (5 if you count Colabello who was used every other day, and Revere who arrived for 220 AB's).

Good pitching will always beat good hitting...maybe I'm just thinking outside the box in hopes this team can score more runs when the pitching is good....but yeah..I'm spewing blasphemy and I don't know anything.

you're really not grasping any of the information being given to you in this thread. Instead of wallowing in your ignorance, try to understand something that isn't as simplistic as they pitch better and they hit in bunches

Why bother? Some people want to believe the narrative that KC has a better formula than us "for the playoffs" when the simple reality is they were hotter than us at the right time....and they caught some breaks we didn't at the right time.

As you said last night they hammered 1.95 HRs. Is that bad?

I don't concede that they are a better team in any way other than the pen and maybe a shade on D.

I need to vent and I need a dedicated thread for this so f*** it I'm starting a new one. What the f*** is with this f***ing Royals team?

Last year during the World Series I rooted passionately against them. Couldn't stand them then. I'm certainly not a Giants fan but was so relieved they pulled out the WS win so this piece of s*** luck team didn't win. Despite having the derpest manager of all managers they somehow managed to get to the WS last year and it frustrated the f*** outta me, one bunt at a time.

Now this? All over again but even worse this year? Yep.

-Down 6-2 late in ALDS elimination game to the Astros, and Correa botches a routine grounder that opens the floodgates to their comeback?

-Batting a guy with a .612 OPS as your leadoff hitter, while putting Alex Gordon in the 8 hole, AND IT KEEPS WORKING OUT FOR YOU? Since when is Alcides Escobar suddenly the best leadoff hitter in baseball? How the f*** does this even happen? Escobar had an OPS more than 50 points less than Ryan Goins this year for f***'s sake. Can you imagine if Ryan Goins was batting leadoff for us and hitting .500 and winning playoff MVP awards?

-Last nights 4 base error...I mean, in the park home run. More on that later.

Call it sour grapes, call it whatever. I f***ing hated this Royals team last year. I f***ing hate them more this year. Its as if the baseball gods are just pissing in all of our faces. Opponents hard hit balls are always right at them, yet everything they hit somehow finds a hole. Are you f***ing kidding me with that in the park home run last night? I mean, are you f***ing kidding me? Cespedes played it like a bag of toys, and then it goes off his knee and rolls 50 feet away? That set the tone for the entire World Series of course.

Luck on top of luck on top of luck on top of luck on top of f***ing luck. And to top if all off, they also have the biggest *******s in baseball on the team. The series against us where they threw at Donaldson repeatedly for no reason. The series against the A's where they threw at Lawrie and 120 pound Ventura chirped whenever a grounder was hit back to him. Volquez, Ventura and Cueto. 3 smashable faces. Hell make it 4, add Hosmer to the mix.

I'm sorry, but I can't get over our loss yet. I keep replaying that 9th inning over in my head and I can't believe we let this Royals team through again. We didn't even need to play great to beat them. We played poorly and still almost did. The Jays that we watched in the 2nd half didn't even show up in the playoffs and yet they still almost made the World Series. Pissing in my face.

And just a heads up to Rays/Royals superfan BTS when you decide to respond: I've got you on ignore.

There is no question that the Royals are an excellent team. That said, they have been unbelievably lucky in the playoffs.

Yeah, perhaps I should clarify: I don't think they are a s***** team. They are a good team, with a terrible manager - but not a World Series champion caliber team in my opinion. Never in my life have I seen a team have this much luck. We should have crushed them.

Moose isn't that bad. Neither is Gordon. All their Whites are coo. Its dem Dominicans!! and one specific dumb Puerto Rican called Rios.

I don't know what's worse, not making the playoffs for 20+ years, where apathy kicks in and it doesn't matter that the Jays lose, or having them become one of the top teams in baseball, only to lose in the manner that they did. It's still hard to think about baseball right now, the pain is still raw. The Jays should be playing in the World Series this year...

Alcides Escobar was the worst qualified hitter in baseball after the all star break.

Soooo let's just give him to most PA on the team and win every game regardless.

Sal Perez is a cool guy, though I can't ever understand a word he is saying.

Meh. We lost to a hot team. It happens in the playoffs every year.

Look at the Red Sox in 2013. Everything went right for that team that year. Then they went back to being s***.

KC was a bit healthier i think as well. There only injured guy was Cain and his ankle. Perez was pretty beat up as well. The only guys they lost from there opening day lineup was Holland. We had Tulo with a cracked shoulder blade, Edwin with torn ligaments in his hand and a sports hernia. Our best reliever was done in Cecil. Travis was lost for the season and would have made that play Goins pissed himself over. KC needed all these injuries to beat us, then again we are an older team so we can expect more of them.

The jays choking with runners on was horrendous, games 2 and 6 were the JAys to win, and throwing away Home field prob cost them a WS, dumb decisions all around. Also putting a Gibby as a manager of this team just compounds the dumb. It was there for the taking.
