Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Cecil out, Hutch/Tepera in? Not like it matters anyways...
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Let Buehrle get his remaining inning and a third.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Bringing in Mark B with his reverse splits to give him a role that he's not used to doesn't really make much sense, but it probably doesn't matter who we switch him out for anyhow. It'll prob be that righty that has the best lefty splits but that doesn't mean that he'll be used... so hopefully, Loup can step up his game as basically our only real lefty arm in the pen now.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 amazing that people tear their calves just by running.

And, uh, losing Cecil is terrible, obviously. Feels like such a fitting development after these two games, though.

CZW is a little too crazy nowadays though.
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 This feels like the inevitable ending to 1987...like a trainwreck. Still not done though, said and felt the same way then as i do now.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Terrible timing for this, I hope the Jays don't use Cecil as a loogy next year, the guy should be our setup man or closer. Same goes for Hendriks, Loup is a fine loogy.
nextyear Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Tepera to replace Cecil: Tepera has good stats against LHH even though he is a right handed throwing pitcher - http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-add-tepera-to-roster-in-place-of-injured-cecil/ Here are his stats - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10291&position=P. He has had some good outings this year and some no so good outings.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 If there is one thing AA overlooked this past trade deadline, it has to be the horrible depth of the LH relievers we ended up with... someone like Dierkman would sure have looked good depth wise right now. We probably hoped that Loup turned things around in a big way in the final two months and unfortunately that didn't happen. He's LOOGY at best right now unfortunately...
Followthelight Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Cecil for Tepera......damn news keeps getting worse.
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Cecil says it was just muscle, should heal in time for spring training. No surgery. Felt the pop on the first step then doesnt remember making tag. Heal up, hope he picks up where he left off.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Anyone see the post game interview with LaTroy Hawkins? f***ing hilarious. "Cecil got a torn calf? That's bad... Real bad"
Jim_Ackers_balls Verified Member Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I did the same thing to myself playing baseball two years ago. it was about five months before I finally felt right. With the sort of treatment/attention that Cecil will get I'm sure he'll be ready for Spring Training.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Having Cecil to face Schwarber late in a WS game in a big spot would be epic...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 This team should have enough good relievers to be able to survive without Cecil but Gibbons' plan seems to be to simply extend Osuna and Sanchez instead and act like he doesn't have the deep bullpen he actually has. I know that Hendriks and Lowe have had blowups but so has Sanchez and, for whatever reason, he's been given this tremendous rope that they have not been granted.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Which calf was it again? his supporting leg or his landing leg?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Which calf was it again? his supporting leg or his landing leg? Hopefully not the one that's required to generate his unhittable curveball

Hendriks has had very few blow-ups (less than Sanchez proportionate to use). Lowe has had two but been very good. To me these guys are above Sanchez in high leverage. Yesterday was classic Sanchez against LHH. In the blink of an eye a hit and a BB. I like his arm but I don't like the Gibbyaffair with him and think he used incorrectly sometimes. I hope that doesn't continue.

And even after Sanchez was publicly stated to have dropped in the depth chart a couple of weeks ago. He just gets the f***in job right back. Just ridiculous.
