Season opener for Bluefield and they're getting no hit through 7.

Paying homage to the real Blue Jays to start the season.

Will Smith sure didn't mope about regarding his demotion. He's hit home runs in 5 straight games now in AAA.

It's incredible how the Dodgers keep on pulling guys like these deep into the draft. Smith, Seager, Bellinger, Pederson, Verdugo were all guys plucked either in the backend of the 1st round, or later.

What an incredible player development engine. Has to be the best imo.

Todd doesn't want to hear that. He just wants to hear how Alford is garbage.

BABIP over .400 over that span, but still a huge improvement over his miserable April.

Really hope he comes up and stays up. Trade Smoak, move Teoscar to DH, and put Alford in CF. If he sucks, he sucks, but this is the year to give players a shot.

One month does not prove nothing. What I would like to see

is him get 500 or 600 at bats without getting hurt or missing any

time. Having a batting average between 270 and 300. Maybe 15 home runs,

say 50 to 60 rib's and 30 stolen bases. Sevens years with the team this is the numbers

some people would like to see from this guy. NOT handed to him. Until then he

should not be in the top 30. after all this time.

I'd like to see him get an extended look. Alford is 25 and now has 650 PA in triple-A.

I’m not a huge fan, but if there's any time to see what you have, this is the year to do it.

If he's hot and hitting, find a chance to bring him up.

Is Teo's wrist injury a real thing or is he coming back?

Box Score for the MWL AS game:

Strong showing for Brodt, Winckowzki, and Johnson.

Podkul and Gold also made an appearance.

Game was tied and went into a sudden-death Home Run Derby.

Teo's actually been a good defender this year, but yeah, Alford would be better obviously. Would be nice if Teo could keep up his D from this year and be able to rotate around the OF and DH with some other pieces. Definitely need to find some room for Alford soon and just let him go for the rest of the year.

Question:

Why are Hugo Cardona and Yhon Perez still suspended. And the other

three are not? Did they not all get the same amount.

I’d leave Alford down for a while tbh. We will be bad next year as well. Let’s see what teo can do.

Well, you also want to make sure whatever changes he's made are retained, rather than possibly reverting by being called up and trying to do too much.

Call him up after the trade deadline.

This regime will be highly motivated to not be bad next year as being bad might mean it's their final year. Their contracts are up and Atkins getting a 1 year extension

They will do stuff to get to Mediocre next year book it

Some folks may enjoy this. It's an Ask Me Anything on reddit with Kendall Williams (completed). Pretty good stuff for some of the questions.

So it’s pretty much confirmed that Bo Bichette will get called up this season if he settles in to triple-A and starts hitting. Reports from both Shi Davidi today on radio and Ben Wagner during broadcast. Reiterating reports from one-two weeks ago.

I’ll paraphrase, but Shi said the organization was very impressed with Bichette during spring training (so were other people that watched him like Blair and MacArthur). Original plan to bring him up in 2020 started to change after spring training. He seems to be ahead of schedule in his development at shortstop and has potential to not only stick, but “be impactful defensively”. Bichette has been putting in double time in his fielding/throwing and has impressed coaches. If the bat is ready, he will get called this year.

Does this mean Galvis gets traded or hits the bench? I’m honestly not sure. Bichette will play everyday though if he gets promoted. If I had to wager during spring, I’d thought he would be here April 2020, but that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.

This could of course just be a carrot for Bichette to work extra hard in triple-A, but I don’t think the org would make it this clear (and hyping up fans through media) unless they’re serious about it and has a realistic shot of happening.

I estimated Biggio would be up before June (I pegged May 20 against Red Sox) when most people thought it was happening @All-Star break, he came up May 24.

Bichette is more difficult to peg since it seems like everything depends on his performance. If I had to make an educated guess, it’s either somewhere @July 22 against Cleveland or like @August 8 against the Yankees. This is all assuming he is hitting and remains healthy though.

Mid season trades will open up roster spots. And I would expect to see Bo Bichette here no later than August 1st. Galvis had plenty of offers to be a backup infielder and came here of course to be a starting shortstop. So teams will want him as a bench guy or someone they can plug in at SS incase of injury and what not. I expect Sogard to be moved as well unless he falls off a cliff. Teams might also see him a useful bench piece as a guy that can play multiple positions. The Roster crunch will clear up quickly. And I am sure they want a nice look at Vlad, Bichette, and Biggio all together.

Bo coming up this year would mean that all of Vlad, Bo, and Biggio will be free agents at the same time (after 2025). Hope some extensions are worked out well before that, but there's still a lot of time for that.

Seven years of control is not a small amount of time, so much can happen before then like CBA changes. Like imagine trying to plan for 2019 in 2012, there’s just no way.

That said, Bichette is nowhere near a finished product offensively and could use extra time down in Triple-A. If they decided to keep him down till next year there’s nothing wrong with that, so I’m genuinely surprised.

Alternatively - Vlad eats his way out of the league, Bo is a bust, and Biggio cripples himself in another car accident.

YES - Galvis to the bench. That's his best role.

Bichette - Biggio - Vlad 1-2-3 future lineup order

Biggio should hit 1st

Vlad 2nd

If Bo is the team's third best hitter then he should not hit third.

Really you would Bo, Biggio, and Vlad 1, 2, and 4 if they are the three best
