Some blurbs from Kyle Glaser chat.

Michael Smith (Lake Louise): Hey Kyle Otto Lopez has hit extremely well at every level he has played at any chance he could become a top 100 prospect? What do you think of him?

Kyle Glaser: Lopez can legitimately hit. The bat is real. He's got a few Blue Jays prospects ahead of him on the pecking order for the Top 100, but honestly, guys who can just plain hit often outperform a lot of guys who spend time on the Top 100 who have big tools but never figure out the most important one. Lopez doesn't really have much power, but there is always room for a guy who can hit for average, drive some balls into the gap for doubles, steal bases and play the middle infield on a major league roster.

Adam (Brandon): Ranking catchers and the gap between them. Adley, Alvarez, Moreno, soderstrom. I’m worried about Adley’s hit tool while those other three seem like pitchers can’t get them out.

Kyle Glaser: Adley is in Double-A while Alvarez and Sodestrom have yet to face anyone above Low-A. The gap in the quality of pitching Adley is facing compared to them is enormous. He'd be hitting .315-.400 too against Low-A arms. It's not an equal comparison. Moreno is the interesting one here. The gap between him and a lot of the catchers on the Top 100 isn't significant to begin with and it's shrinking. There are evaluators out there who think he is already one of the 75 best prospects in baseball, and he's showing he might be top 50.

the moreno development is definitely improving an area of strength

i was all for trading Moreno as part of package to Pittsburg to get back Musgrove. Still would have been a great pick up, but Moreno has blown up since AA started

Austin Martin 3-for-4 today. Slashing .273/.379/.364 now in AA, albeit with a pretty large K% which is kind of surprising because he rarely struck out in college. Not too worried. Sample is still small, plus he got thrust into AA for his first taste of pro-ball. Plus, a lot of college hitters from the 2020 draft seem to be having a rough start to their seasons right now.

Otto Lopez continues hitting. Went 2-for-4 today and is now slashing .368/.415/.487. Anyone know what the scouting report on his defense is? I think he could end up being a solid contributor ala Cesar Hernandez for us.

Not much to report other than that. Hatch starting tomorrow for AAA, so something to look out for. Could be his last start before he joins the squad.

Thanks Ray, see this is what makes me worry about Fabian, in College ball a 35% ish K percentage is very concerning. Those holes may never be plugged. I'd rather a safer pick.

I think there's enough of a track record at this point that says this front office can draft well that I'd be more than comfortable with whoever we end up drafting.

Agreed.

Moreno and Lopez keep hitting.

Pearson gave up 4 ER in 3 innings on 4 hits 2 BB 7 K. 71 pitches, 40 for strikes. Command issues continue. I heard he's tinkering with his delivery, so this could be a lengthier process than originally anticipated. Hopefully he figures it out and starts having consinstent deeper type starts, although he didn't actually start tonight. I hope he does well and not turn into Aaron Sanchez.

It was discerning for me last week where i read that Pearson would like to hit 110 mph.....good grief with goals like that we'll never see him healthy let alone have some sort of control.

How good is AAA pitch tracks, cause it appears his command was good again. Lots of pitches in the zone or on the corner called balls. Not a lot of wild pitches

Yeah it's hard to say. Pearson does need to get to a point where 80 pitches needs to carry him through 5 quality innings as a basis point. There is probably some confidence issues in the MLB which seems to be apparent. Apparently he's tinkering with his delivery, so his next several outings will tell us something. I think he'll be fine, as he just needs consinstent work without injury. Young pitchers really need to have a successful outing in the bigs before they can really take off. When Manoah got through the first inning alone, you could tell his trajectory was going to go straight up. Pitching six scoreless innings in New York is going to do wonders for this already confident kid. Pearson will get there.

About as good as Jud Fabian lol.

Matt Manning imploded again. Pitching prospects.

I'm so glad I dealt a huge package for him and Falcon Smash (his own hand) Luzardo in my dynasty league. It's working out gangbusters.

Oh man that one doesn't look great at the moment. Meyer, Rocker, Grayson, and Nick Gonzales, and a first for those two.

Kloff has been terrible.

I wonder what's wrong with him? Velocity is definitely there from what I've heard.

He's finding more velocity but lost his command. Still only 20 turning 21 in August, I haven't seen him this year but staying in good condition is important for him. Still confident he'll figure it out but he's getting hit hard for a guy with a decent 3 pitch mix.

He was pretty bad in his limited indy league games last year too.

Nothing. Pitchers go through stuff let alone young arms. Scouting the box score can only tell so much on pitchers.
