Right now Kirk >>> Thomas, it isn't close. Kirk's shown his bat is capable at every level at a premium position, including the MLB in a small sample. Looks as though Thomas will stick in CF but he hasn't played above A- Ball

If he wants him, he wants him, but I think there is a lot of homerism going on with Kirk.

 

If you own a $5,000.000 house and the kids move out and you want to get a nice little place for retirement that you REALLLY love and is only $1,000,000, it doesn't mean you sell your house valued at $5 million for just enough to cover the new $1 million dollar home. You sell your $5 million dollar home for $5 mil buy the $1 mil home and pocket the $4 million.

 

IMO he should at least get a draft pick back to equal out the Fantasy value.

 

I just traded for Kirk in one of my non Blue Jays leagues and didn't pay near as much as Thomas. As a matter of fact I traded Thomas in another league in part of a deal for Dylan Carlson... So I am just saying get equal value vs a player you just really like..

He is a FV50 which is the same as they have Thomas.. But Kirk is ranked 19 for just catchers by Mason, one ahead of Jansen....

 

If one is trying to identify an undervalued asset and obtain him, then great. My point is Fantasy value I think Thomas should get him more..

As to McKenzie they are major concerns about him maintaining velocity.. But the rational for the rankings is clearly laid out at the start of the list. Hit tools, systems, proximity etc.. In the majority of the 6 leagues I am in, people outside of this board are using Fantrax and Fangraphs for trade value assessment.. Saying this list sucks doesn't cut it normally in negotiations unless I can show it is an outlier... But show me a list where Kirk is ranked so high..?

Why would anyone make more than one list in an offseason? There are no games being played right now! If you count LIDOM.. Franco hit 350/435/500 in 20 at bats lol.

If you read the prefaces he explains exactly how lists get updated in the off-season or COVID eliminated games. I have no dog in the fight with the dude and not trying to justify anything he does. However, he does take the time to lay out "his" rational behind everything if you read his rankings...So it is not like he is throwing darts at a board.

 

Also, they usually open up the comments eventually and guys ask the exact same questions about so and so and he general replies and explains the thought process behind it...

Totally different company and organization. Also has Kelenlic #1 and Kirk 124...

Prospects live also... Current one has Kelenic which is a change from their previous one. Kirk is not top 100 in this one and he is around 153 in their top 500 Dynasty prospects..

For a guy who is said to have no dog in the fight and "not trying to justify his rankings", you are trying pretty hard to justify his rankings!
