Any way we can load Alford and Todd into a canon and fire them both into the sun?

Todd's been bang on about Alford for YEARS

Yeah let's just fire him into the sun. Being correct is just not allowed.

Unless your name is Keith Law.

James (McHenry, IL):

If you could name one Hitter and one Pitcher that you are most excited/interested to see play in the Arizona Fall League, who would they be and why?

Kyle Glaser: The hitter has to be Julio Rodriguez. The types of things scouts, opposing managers and players are saying about this kid insane. I have not had the opportunity to see him for myself yet, so I’m looking forward to watching him play. Spencer Howard and Shane Baz are two big-armed righthanders I haven’t seen in person yet and are probably the pitchers I’m most curious to see.

Joe C. (Charlotte):

Hi Kyle, thanks for the chat! Which of these pitchers do you see making their team's starting rotation by the all-star break next season? Nate Pearson, Anthony Kay, Jesus Luzardo, AJ Puk, Triston McKenzie, Alex Reyes, Ryan Helsley, , Genesis Cabrera, Carlos Martinez, Touki Toussaint

Kyle Glaser: Pearson, Kay, Luzardo for sure. I can see Puk and Martinez. McKenzie it's hard to feel confident about given his injuries. The rest I'd bet are relievers.

The fact that they're not playing Alford is really blowing my balls! McKinney and Fisher are giant turds, and they'll still get opportunities next year. We all know what Teoscar is. Drury is still getting ABs. At least it would be fun to watch someone who could play great D.

Even if they don't think Alford is anything, audition him for a month and maybe spring training. Hope that he goes on a run and then they could possibly make a Gose/Travis type trade. Maybe for another former top prospect and hope for a turn around. There's no downside to giving him an audition.

I'm starting to think Todd is a Shitkin's burner account. It all reeks of small dick syndrome on their part. It seems like they're only validated if players they're direct responsible succeed...and will run them into the ground trying.

Being correct is allowed...that's why I'm suggesting Alford joins him. Being insufferable about it though?

Compared to the other options that are getting playing time? At least Alford has a floor of "solid defensive OF". Honestly, a good defensive CF with a slightly below league average (a reasonable expectation given his numbers since mid-May this season) bat with speed and who is pre-arb should be a guy we want to have a look at.

Yeah? What is one f***ing month of Alford possibly going to tell us?

His floor and Fisher's floor are the same. Fisher has higher upside.

I get it, people love Alford for some reason even though he's garbage and hate Fisher for reasons they ignore when it comes to Alford but it's still really f***ing annoying

I don't hate Fisher. I hate McKinney and Davis though, so those guys can f*** off and give up time for Alford.

That's fair, I don't get the Alford hate, he has improved through a new swing adjustment. Who knows... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We might disagree on Alford and Fisher, but at least our universal hate for McKinney brings us together.

Wait... I thought McKinney was the next Justin Upton??

People love Alford because he's our own pick. He was a potential 1st rounder that slipped to the 3rd round because of signing issues, and ended up signing for $750k. He has 4 tools (mediocre arm) and is very athletic. We've seen flashes of what he could be capable of and just don't want to admit that he could very well be nothing more than permanent potential.

People hate Fisher for the same reason. Loud tools but hasn't been able to put it together at this level... And what's worse, he was traded for 3 pieces. A $5k signing bonus value guy in Stevenson with zero power, that has made A ball his bitch. A rule 5 guy made good, even though he's as replaceable as a lightbulb. And the Messiah himself, Aaron Sanchez, who's shown flashes of brilliance, but has been a bag of s*** since 2016.

Let's all admit that Alford, although he has some very nice tools, will most likely be complete s***. He can't stay healthy, struggles, but then shows wonderful flashes. Rinse. Repeat. He's been here 7 years. It's time to move in.

Let's also admit that Fisher is probably also a crate of s*** too. Lots of power, lots of speed. Lots of whiffs. Also, he's looked very uncomfortable in the outfield. Is that an anomaly? Maybe... But it's not helping his case when he can't make contact at the plate. And it's not like he's 22 years old.

And finally... Sanchez, Biagini, and Stevenson were not valuable assets. Pining over them cause they were moved for a toolsy guy that was likely going to fail is dumb.

Bottom line, none of these guys are guys that would have any kind of meaningful impact on a championship calibre team. They are not players worth getting worked up over.

My favourite part about Jonathan Davis is his wRC+ of 1

Almost as impressive as Alford’s -2

I get that they both blow but there's an iota of a chance that Alford could put it together and become something useful. I'd give my at bats to that over John McDonald

I can’t find the iota leaderboard on Fangraphs. Can you help me?

The floor starts with defense. Fisher has terrible instincts in the field. He's never going to be a good defensive outfielder, which means his bat has to make up for that. 400 plate appearances isn't a large sample size, but it's not a completely insignificant amount. If he doesn't improve dramatically over his next couple hundred plate appearances he could just be a AAAA player. Some guys just can't make the adjustment to big league secondary pitches.

Griffin Conine and Adam Kloffenstein named BA minor league all-stars. No mention of other standouts like Kay, Kirk, and Martinez.

It's right under insignificant sample sizes. Alford has 42 plate appearances spread over 3 years. Really any PA prior to his well documented swing changes don't mean much. He has 10 PA in September. 3 for 9 with 2 SO and a HPB. That is also a meaningless set of stats, because it's 10 PA..lol.

So those small sample sizes mean less than even smaller sample sizes.

The way you tie your brain into a pretzel shape in order to support your nonsensical views is impressive.

Hurling insults my way is the appropriate way of validating your own...lol.

Alford did make swing changes early in the year. Since those swing changes he's had 268 plate appearances going back to May 1 and put up an OPS north of .850. You always want the largest sample size possible. 268 plate appearances isn't a ton of plate appearances, but it's not a completely insignificant amount either.

My belief is that maybe the adjustments he's made has helped his game and he is a much better player. I'm not wholly convicted but he's had enough success given his elite athleticism that I want to see more. I'm not alone in this. How is this a nonsensical view.

You believe he's s*** despite his recent success because you've declared him to be garbage and you're never wrong so it must be so. The more recent stats don't back you up, but you fall back on the belief that you're the smartest man on the planet, so those stats be damned.

Yes. I am the one with nonsensical viewpoints. Tell me again how great Fisher and McKinney are, because those are the guys preventing Alford from getting at bats.

I love convenient swing change narratives!

An .850 OPS in the 2019 AAA environment! That's almost as good as, hmmm, let me pick a random name... Billy f***ing McKinney!

At some point Anthony Alford's nice big muscles and "raw power" trend towards irrelevancy. His game power has been at the Ryan Goins level in his ~2100 PA MiLB career. I wish that was a big exaggeration but it really isn't, look at their MiLB career slash lines:

.277/.336/.386

.265/.358/.393

Anthony Alford has done NOTHING to take playing time away from any other OF on the Blue Jays roster. Nothing. Jonathan Davis has a better MiLB ISO than Alford. McKinney and Fisher's MiLB numbers put Alford's to shame.

This is the last post I will make about Anthony Alford. Shut the f*** up about him.

It's funny. The year before Alford was a consensus top 50 MLB prospect, Dalton Pompey was just as highly regarded. History f***ing repeating itself with disappointing, injury prone prospect failures and screeching, crybaby Blue Jays fans.

Thank this post if you agree. Reply if you are a ********.
