Kloff had 5 scoreless innings yesterday, 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Command could be better, but high groundball rate and low amount of hits against is very encouraging.

Hiraldo went 3-for-5 with a double and a walk. Half (four) of his walks have come in his last 6 games (32 played overall), now hitting .305/.359/.481.

Cal Stevenson had a monster day and is now hitting .302/.393/.399 for a 141 WRC+. Kevin Pillar had a 110 WRC+ in Dunedin in 2012. Pillar's highest WRC+ in the minors was 141 in Bluefield, where Stevenson had a 173 WRC+. Let's hope that Stevenson, whenever he's promoted, will be up to the tough challenge of hitting in New Hampshire.

Kloff's line looks better than his day actually went. Almost half his pitches were balls.

Hopefully after the deadline we see a slew of promotions including Stevenson, Kirk, Wall, Espinal, Large, etc.

Tercet triggered.

Point being?

Speaking of sucking - Pillar's down to 0.1 WAR on the season

Down? I didn't know he was 'up' to 0.1 yet. ;)

Not a prospect but you have to wonder why the Rockies never gave Jordan Patterson a real chance at the major league level. He's in the Blue Jays system now and having a horrible year but his pre-2019 stats are pretty good: https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=15119&position=OF

For whatever it's worth, Clay Davenport's numbers didn't hate his defence either: http://www.claydavenport.com/ht/PATTERSON19920212A.shtml

Thats a +15 fielding number in RF in 2016

+10 at 1B and -2 in RF in 2017

+6 at 1B and -4 in RF in 2018

+6 at 1B and +9 in RF in 2019

Even if they didn't have outfield room they could have tried him at 1B. The Rockies had an 87 wRC+ from their first basemen in 2017 and a 69 wRC+ in 2018. That Ian Desmond contract. Yikes

19 year old catcher Gabriel Moreno keeps chugging along in Lansing.

.308 / .884 OPS

K rate <10%

Athletic catchers are intriguing.

The Rockies also did the same thing with Mike Tauchman, who now has 1.2 WAR in just over 50 games for the Yankees. They are pretty dumb.

Kendall Williams in the GCL today: 2IP, 0H, 0R, 3BB, 5K

By the way, Simeon Woods Richardson is over a month younger than Kendall Williams. That's crazy.

How would you like to be that guy? He produces in every single level he plays at (lowest wRC+ was 124 in 2014 in A ball) and the Rockies give you all of 19 PA's. f*** THEM. It's too bad he's been s*** for the Jays.

Per kevin Barker

Kay does not have a third pitch. Wont be a successful starter until he develops one

Fastball, curveball, changeup. Sorry...I see 3 types of pitches on that list. His fastball gets up to 96. His curveball we've seen clips of and it has a nice 2 plane break... And his changeup was seen as his 2nd best pitch in his draft year so we know it's already there.

Tbf I’ve read that Kay has kind of lost his changeup. We’ll see

Gabriel Moreno just keeps getting it done.

2-4 so far tonight with his 9th HR. OPS should be at .900 now.

Just turned 19 this year.

Yes, quite amazing numbers. Your post inspired me to do my own comparison (sorry for stealing your idea).

Player A in A-ball at 19 years old

9.3% Ks

.228 ISO

155 WRC+

Player B in A-ball at 18 years old

7.4% Ks

.189 ISO

153 WRC+

Player C in A-ball at 18 years old

10.7% Ks

.164 ISO

151 WRC+

Player D in A-ball at 19 years old

20.3% Ks

.204 ISO

162 WRC+

Player D was a consensus top 10 prospect, player B and C top prospect in all of MLB (Wander and Vlad). Player A is our Gabriel Moreno.

His elite contact rate combined with power has recently only been found in elite prospects like Wander, Vlad and Juan Soto. Moreno's probably not as good as those guys, sure, but it's one heck of a company to be keeping.

I'm afraid of his Kevin Pillar approach.

Good results in minor leagues, but in MLB pitchers eat you alive.
