Where do you get those kind of stats? Like velocity and direction of hitting?

This was a great comment. It was really interesting.

Do you think the juiced ball give more hope for guys like Kirk. He has dead pull power but he might get to triple a and realize that now he can hit oppo and it still will go out?

Nate Pearson is dealing tonight. Really hoping he gets pushed to New Hampshire after this start.

18 games, .379/.506/.636, 3HR, 1.142 OPS

That's in the PCL. Biggio has a 1.158 OPS and that's in Buffalo! I feel bad for Biggio. He was slow played last year and could have easily been moved up to AAA. This year he's picked up right where he left off. The guy is 24 years old. He deserves to be brought up and be a super 2.

Shatkins has a man crush on Gurriel and Drury and it's screwing Biggio over.

That's great news. It would be a great surprise for Gurriel to turn this around and become a ML player. That said - can he pick up the ball and throw it to first yet?

I don't know why they haven't put him in the corner outfield positions yet.

Glaser over at BA has said multiple times to be wary of AAA early season numbers (1) its early, (2) AAA is using the MLB ball this year. But for Biggio this is just a continuation of last season.

wRC+ already accounts for that, Biggio's is higher.

You have to be wary of early season numbers at any level ever. It's an issue of sample size not of the level of the minors.

10 K/BB through 5, lol. It's time Birds, bump him up.

Of course. The other change is the use of the MLB ball. Glaser thinks it is going to skew the numbers quite a bit from what we are used to, in AAA.

Offensive explosion by Dunedin tonight. 14-0 right now.

Riley Adams 3-for-4 with a HR

Cullen Large 3-for-4

Biggio has had 69 plate appearances. He could go 0 for his next 31 and his OBP would still be .360! He had 45 plate appearances in spring training showing the same approach. He took his walks, showed some pop. That's 115 plate appearances. If you combine spring and the start of the season the sample size isn't all that small. In 50 more plate appearances if Biggio's numbers don't fall a whole bunch, the kid should be given a shot.

I imagine he'll be up very soon.

In the "I had no idea he was doing this well" category:

Espinal: 136 wRC+, 6.9 BB%, 16.7 K%, 27.8 LD%, 40.7 FB%

With Bichette hurt and Biggio on way the up soon (hopefully), he should get some consideration to move up a level.

I just don't understand the impatience with Biggio. if you believe he is Zobrist 2.0 or even an MLB all star then you should hope they wait until he passes the Super 2 deadline. If you think he is just a guy who is better than the guys you have...then you should wait until September at least. If you want him up cause you think he makes the Jays a playoff team than you are a homer

When is he Super 2?

When is he Super 2?

Mid Julyish...

has at least two years of major league service but less than three, AND is among the top 22 percent for cumulative playing time in the majors in this class of players (and ties), AND was on an active major-league roster for at least 86 days in the previous season.

Dunedin won 18-0 tonight and only hit 1 homerun.

Pearson is too good for A+. The weather has warmed up. He should get moved up to New Hampshire now.

Wander Franco is now destroying A ball. 3/4 with 2 HR tonight. 3 home runs, 3 doubles, and single in his last 9 AB

Yea, I don't see the point in calling up Biggio yet. There are a ton of guys on the major league roster that need at bats to see if they are something. Let Biggio mash in triple A until July. And, let's get him looks at as many positions as possible.

(3) unless they are Jimcanuck fantasy prospects, in which case just throw those caveats out the window

Are we really worried about super 2 status with Biggio? He's 24. He's under team control through 30 regardless and doesn't seem like someone who would be hard to extend if it came down to it (whereas Vlad likely sees $200-300M mil in his future so he's less likely to take a deal). I don't mind letting him get more AAA at bats, but calling him up now would be fine too.

Yes, his age is irrelevant.

If this team is worried about service time manipulation with Cavan Biggio, be it years of control or super 2, we should all pack it in because this is a mickey mouse org. I'm pretty sure we'll see Biggio in May.

Yes, his age is irrelevant. An extra year of control is extremely valuable, especially in a year where competing is a hail mary.

You think they're going to hold him down until mid April?
