jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Jays make an appearance on BA Hot sheet today 14. Riley Adams, C, Blue Jays Team: High Class A Dunedin (Florida State) Age: 22 Why He’s Here: .643/.688/.857 (9-for-14), 5 R, 3 2B, 3 RBIs, 2 BB, 2 SO, 2-for-2 SB The Scoop: Riley carried a reputation as an offensive catcher with questionable defense coming out of last year’s draft, but he’s largely struggled at the plate his first full season. He gave a glimpse of what he can do at his best last week, recording a hit in four straight games and finishing with a 3-for-3 effort on Sunday. Adams has remained behind the plate all year—and encouraging sign not everyone thought was likely—and his latest offensive surge is another mark in his favor as we reach the end of the season. (KG)
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Anyone heard anything on Foley? He was sent down last Monday, but hasn't started in Buffalo yet, 7 days later. Maybe they are giving him the full 10 days to work on things before making getting called up to make his next start? Not sure.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 It's Luis Urias time. But why? I know he's no Vlad but for an awful team who gave Eric Hosmer his contract they could use another year of control on a promising prospect.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Anyone else notice Austin Meadows has taken off since being traded to Tampa? .307 / .354 / .659 179 wRC+ 7.3% BB / 12.5% K in 96 PA's. Only a .286 BABIP
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 That's racist. I didn't want to include Arismendy Alcantara and remind all those that said he should be getting full time reps over Javier Baez.

Only a .286 BABIP Tampa is the cure all for broken prospects. It's usually more of a band-aid though.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Cal Stevenson is an on base machine.. 2-3 with two walks and four stolen bases (20, 1cs) tonight. OPS in Bluefield is a bit over 1.000 50BB 20K 28RBI, 60R , 66H in 51 games out of the lead off spot. RBI's circumstantial obviously, but still impressive. What's impressive is that he's not just slap hitting his way on base with a SLG% over .500 He turns 22 next month. Next year in Lansing/Dunedin is going to be a big year for him.

He's 21 in Rk ball... nice to see, but these type of guys need to do it in better age appropriate competition.

Yup, that's why next year will be telling for him if he's promoted to Dunedin at some point. He just hit a line drive double to RF in his last AB (3-4 2BB).

Nice to see, but these type of guys need to do it in better age appropriate competition. a 2.6 BB to K ratio is impressive no matter what. Noda was 21 in the Appy last year and he's now stepped up to be a legit interesting guy. Stevenson is doing it with similar discipline skills but no where near the same raw power. However no one seems to be able to strike this guy out (in NCAA, the Cape or CC it's been the same 2 to 1 BB to K's). I actually agree with Gruber a bit here...an impressive showing in Lansing puts this guy in really interesting category, considering he's said to be athletic he might provide some D too.
