Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Eh? 7 K's. Care more about that. Good enough for a bump up. I mean the 4 walks are still pretty bad.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Eh? 7 K's. Care more about that. Good enough for a bump up. We know that Perez can get strikeouts. If he's going to succeed in the majors then he will need to have better control.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Be willing to sign a waiver saying his FA clock won't start when he gets called up. That's so beyond ridiculous. Why are they so worried about 7 years down the road? Vlad Guerrero, a sure fire all star. Ok, I get it. Bring him up 3 weeks into the season next year. Sean Reid Foley would really benefit from 6 or 7 starts in the bigs this year to prepare him for next year. He should be given a chance to make the rotation out of spring training next year. If he does, giving him these starts won't matter for his service clock. Are we not trying to compete next year? Or are we shooting to compete in 2022?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Eh? 7 K's. Care more about that. Good enough for a bump up. Are you talking promotion, he's only had 3 starts at AA and he's just been promoted their, easy cowboy?

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Or they just don't think he's ready yet, could be anything, you guys are just guestimating? 10Ks per nine, 2.9 walks per 9 and .6hrs per nine in 77.1 innings with the Bisons this year. I'm guestimating they don't want to start his service clock. I'm guestimating they don't plan on competing in 2019. I'm guestimating we will see 2 Garcia's signed in the off season for next year's rotation.

King Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I don't get why people care about the service clock. He won't start next year in the majors so theres a good chance he makes up the next 1.5 months anyway. The only thing that would matter is burning an option year.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I'm pretty sure the FO doesn't give a single f*** about SRF's service time clock, because that would be retarded. They must still think he has things to work on in AAA.

They must still think he has things to work on in AAA. We don't know what this FO cares about to be honest. But I know most of you are in love with Shatkins. So be it. Hopefully I see some definitive direction soon.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I Think and Hope the Direction will be Tempered in it’s Response and Actions ! No Need to Rush or Push the Minor League or it’s players up just to fill Holes or Fans needs to feel or see the Hype of the next Great ones Arrivial in the Show! I for one think Slow n Steady is better in approach based on where the Jays are or where they Find themselves at this point as a team! I Actually Hope this is a Offseason to not only reset the big league team and not panic, but also reset the Minors to better create Depth And sustained success throughout this organization! Next Year pray for a 500 team and that they Overachieve at best ! Go all Las Vegas Golden Knights Style ... promote those in the System already 26 and over and sign players looking to rebuild value on one year deals! Make the Depth and best young team you can at Triple AAA and use them as your injury call ups inside of some scrubs, maybe one older OF , Pitcher , infielder As first ups but no more storing crap for craps sake just in case ! Good nite sweet Berti and Bye Bye ! Have your Triple a Develop as a Team and Win that Division and hope your double AA team can as well as a unit succeed ! Winning Breads Winning ... Just Win Baby! Become A Winning Team and Org !!! Birds of a Feather.. That will Win Together! Go Jays Go !!!!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Are we not trying to compete next year? Of course *wink, wink*
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I would rather not watch SRF get demolished by the Red Sox anyway. Let Hauschild get destroyed instead. Dude had a horseshoe up his ass in Seattle.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 any guesses who we will all see in September, Tellez?
Stoneyen Verified Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 any guesses who we will all see in September, Tellez? I'd like to see Tellez up here. He projects to be almost a league average bat right now.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 any guesses who we will all see in September, Tellez? Urena, probably McGuire or Jansen (or both?), and likely Mayza, Cumpton, Pannone and Paulino. Hoping to see Alford, but probably DS JR instead
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 any guesses who we will all see in September, Tellez? Tellez, Alford, Urena, couple of relievers

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 any guesses who we will all see in September, Tellez? The only thing interesting will be Danny Jansen.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I doubt the clock will start on Jansen Well hes already on the 40-man. A 3rd catcher is always brought up in September if they call up McGuire over Jansen they are going to receive a lot of s***. Calling up Jansen and letting him play everyday with Russell backing him up seems ideal. Maile can go catch bullpens.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 I doubt the clock will start on Jansen I don't think theyre worried about the clock on him when they still have Martin around. It's easy to justify Jansen starting in AAA again next season regardless of a call up this year

It's easy to justify Jansen starting in AAA again next season regardless of a call up this year I really wouldn't be surprised if someone took on Martin for the final year of his deal. We might have to eat some of that money but a contender will still see his good defense, his walk rate, and decent pop and glady take him. I am thinking we see Jansen and Maile next year as our catching duo but Jansen/Martin would have a chance to be an outstanding catching tandem. I just think a contender will want Martin at some point.
Stoneyen Verified Member Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Just noticed that Groshans hasn't played since 7/31. Any word on whats going on with him?

jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Wasn't there some s*** Tellez was dealing with last year with some woman? I wonder if ending that situation has helped him at the plate this year
