Well he's only 5'7, what do realistically expect?

I'm sure you've met little guys with above average D.

I’m not sure if this is just jealousy, or flat out ignorance.

More or less accurate, except for the s***** pitcher part. He was a mediocre pitcher. He was a real piece of s***, though. That he died doesn't change that fact.

Agreed.

It's funny how death changes people's perception into thinking the now dead person was a better person than they really were.

Yeah. Look at Ultimate Warrior lol.

to be fair, reports were that Ventura was a pretty good guy off the mound. Acted like a total dick while pitching however.

This sounds like someone we know.

Future LoD Whitesox.

2. Yunior Severino, 2B

Severino signed for $1.9 million in 2016 as one of the top players in the Braves' loaded international class. He is an offense-first switch-hitting middle infielder with power potential and loads of bat speed. As you would expect for a teenager, he has plenty of work ahead of him, especially defensively, but 17-year-olds who slug .444 in the Gulf Coast League are exceedingly hard to find.

Juan Contreras hasn't signed yet, has he?

Ewww. jk.

His scouting report makes me laugh though.

"Contreras is all about arm strength. He can light up radar guns from 92-97 mph already and he's got a little room to add more velocity. But right now he has no idea of where the ball is going when it leaves his hand (10 walks per nine in the GCL this year) and his secondary pitches are more ideas than refined offerings at this point.

This one sounds better, but there's still lots of time to figure things out:

Contreras touches 97 with his fastball and sits 92-95. There’s some effort to the delivery, but Contreras’s lower half is long and strong, and the arm works fine. His best secondary is a slider with purely vertical movement, a result of Contreras’ vertical arm slot. It flashes plus. It’s hard to generate any changeup movement from a slot like Contreras’s. Due to a combination of that arm slot, his size (a slightly built 6-foot-1), and issues with command (Contreras walked 21 hitter in 18 innings this year), there’s a good chance he’s only a reliever. He signed for $1.2 million in 2016.

Monte Harrison is a hell of an athlete:

I love Longenhagen's write-ups, so much detail, he's fantastic for someone not behind a pay-wall. I doubt he'll be writing for them that much longer, some team's going to poach him.

It's fantastic that baseball managed to snatch up an elite athlete like that over basketball and football. Obviously he's not the only one - hell we even have one of those - but it's always a good sign for the sport.

He’s quite low on Alford and Warmoth: Sad to see SRF fall off the map in prospect charts. I’m still holding out hope he has a huge bounce back season.
