Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 So is there any chance we see Borucki in September if Sanchez doesn't return? Just started AA which means he would be rushed. But he's also 23 so not that young and a late pick so it's not like the team has invested a lot in him. Might be good to try to catch lightning in a bottle while there is lightning to be caught like they did with Hutchison. He projects a 5 ERA/FIP which is not going to be any worse than Valdez or whatever scrap heap pitcher they use to fill out #5 otherwise.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Borucki should be starting in Toronto Wednesday night instead of Valdez.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Nothing wrong with leaving him down in AA for the rest of the season. No reason to rush him. Let him start next year in AAA, and he's an injury away from being called up.

Let him start next year in AAA, and he's an injury away from being called up. It might be 3 weeks early. I would be concerned if his command was wonky. But throwing strikes has not been an issue for him. Its an agressive move but they had been extremely conservative with him through A-Ball. With Valdez going on the DL. Hes a logical move if they are considering him in September anyway. Otherwise we're just going to see another AAA scrub get hammered.

I kinda get the feeling that we'll see Chris Rowley on Wednesday, with the recent Sportsnet feature on him and his decent results in AAA. I don't think he's on the 40 man but there are a number of names on there that could be bumped with no consequence.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 (edited) lulz... Andre Scrubb. Ironically, he probably had the "best" outing of any Great Lakes pitcher in that game lol. Edited August 9, 2017 by P2F
Ray Verified Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Connor Panas has been doing incredibly well recently. Last 30 days: .353/.431/.627 with 6 HR. 10% BB-rate and 18% K-rate. Went 3-5 with a HR and a double today.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Danny Jansen has a 4 game hit streak to open up his promotion to AAA. What a season he is having after starting in high-A. At this rate he'll probably see the bigs in 2018 and could be our starting C in 2020 when Martin's contract runs out.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Which should remind us that Pentecost is more project than prospect at this point. Only thing holding Pentecost back is his health. I wouldn't call him a project, he's a legit prospect even if he doesn't stick at C.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Trying to project catchers is like trying to hit a knuckleball with a twizzler. Lol true but projecting ones in AAA is a little easier than it is A ball.

If Burrows doesn't start Friday, he'll be going Saturday. If you're sticking around, I'd love to read a first-hand account from you of his stuff.
