The jays have added a new prospect to the pool today

in Richard Reina.

And also added Ty Sterner.

He's 23 so once he and others hit 24 take them of

the prospects pool. After the june 2017 draft.

The only question that matters is where they rank in the Top 125?

RHP Jeff Hoffman,#Rockies No. 3 prospect and part of Tulowitzki trade with #BlueJays, to be called to start Saturday vs. #Cubs

I'm interested in how Hoffman will do. I didn't like the low K numbers he put up with the Jays but he seems to have evolved in his time with the Rockies. The K to BB ratio is now good but not super impressive, its the 0.83 HR/9 that really intrigues me because its actually very impressive given Albequerque seems to be the most HR friendly ballpark in the PCL. He has a chance to be a good pitcher.

At time of Tulo trade I said that it is very likely one of the 3 pitchers would become a valuable starter or better.

I understand the trade, Reyes was a tire fire, but have always been lukewarm about it. Have got to balance in-season and future considerations.

OR he just got lucky for a few innings. How long does it take hr/9 to stabilize?

You are right. But if you look a little

deeper he was a international free agent

a cfew years ago

Once you've already signed with a team and have been released you're not a true IFA anymore. But I'm sure you already know that.

A couple of things. It's great to see Pentecost hitting in Dunedin, he's 2 for 3 so far today. And another guy I see seemingly doing very well the last little while is Dickie Joe Thon Jr. He was once an intriguing prospect that was sick for a while and seemed to fail while he wasn't, but he's seems to be having a good year this year. Maybe a late bloomer, possible utility guy.

You thought that a former #1 overall candidate in the draft had a chance to be a solid pitcher? You must be a prodigy.

Mitch McKown is a disaster of epic proportions

Today he pitched an inning, giving up 2 hits and 2 walks, and 3 earned runs

Be interesting to see where Vlad is ranked next year, I'd guess around 85. I'd have to assume he will be in the top 100 easily. SRF Alford Urena Vlad is a pretty nice 1-4. Too bad SRF is hurt.

Jays signed another St. Paul Saint. Eric Veglahn, LHP

St. Paul, Minn. — The contract of St. Paul Saints LHP Eric Veglahn has been purchased by the Toronto Blue Jays, the club announced on Monday.

The 22-year-old Veglahn was 3-4 with a 4.39 ERA with one complete game in 10 games (nine starts). In 53.1 innings pitched he walked just 18, struck out 32 and opponents hit just .246 against him. He found out his contract was being purchased following his start on Sunday against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Veglahn was pitching on three days rest for the first time in his career and was solid going 6.0 innings allowing four runs (one earned) on just three hits while walking two and striking out a career high six. He allowed just three hits in each of his last three starts.

In nine starts this season Veglahn allowed three earned runs or less in six of the nine, allowed five or fewer hits in six of nine and went at least 6.0 innings in five of nine. He earned his first professional victory on July 7 at Fargo allowing one run on three hits in 7.2 innings.

Veglahn becomes the second Saints player to have his contract purchased this season, joining pitcher John Straka who also had his contract purchased by the Blue Jays on August 12.

How often do guys like this become significant in the MLB?

Questions directed at anyone that knows not specifically Todd.

Brandon Beachy is the only one I can think of.

Like most prospects not often but some big names that had a lot of success are Matt Stairs, Bobby Bonilla, Dan Quisenberry, Darren O'Day, Larry Walker, Brandon Beachy, Jeremy Accardo.

Safe to assume Stairs and Walker went undrafted because they were Canadian?

I think both had been playing relatively high level hockey so they were just ignored because of that.

BABIP of .444 though....so he's had some bad luck in there.
