Tellez is quietly off to a pretty impressive start. The top line doesn't dazzle you but 3 K's in 39 plate appearances is pretty great. That and the 9 BB's and .180 iso suggest that he's just having BABIP problems.

 

Absolutely. 9 BB and 3 K's is bonkers in 9 games. He also went 2/4 so that OPS is up near .800 now. Probably well over the league average.

 

I think the Eastern League is pretty tough to hit in too, and he's one of the youngest guys in AA.

Palm Beach walked 6 guys too, maybe the ump had an extremely tight zone? With the pitchers that went for the Jays (Cardona, Fernandez, ramirez) it just seems likely they all lost control completely. maybe a bit of both

Vlad Jr left off the top 20 is absurd. Danny Jansen as well.

It's hard to be excited about the system as a whole, but my brain still considers Pompey a prospect even though he's passed the standards to make such lists.

 

It's hard to even see more than 2 or 3 big leage regulars, but as he noted in the article, the Jays have so many guys in the 1st tier below that level, that it's probably realistic to think that a couple of them might figure it out.

 

The next few years are going to be a test for Shapiro and comany, given the likelihood of low draft position, top talent leaving without being able to sign anyone relevant, and no real currency to trade for anyone else's stars.

I think Vlad Jr has the makings of a future MVP imo. Kid can hit. Finding a position is a different story. But the guy said he is basically a bench player if everything goes right is crazy. In two years Vlad Jr. would probably go top 10 in the MLB draft if he was an American prospect. I'm glad we got him when we did.

Those get boring and don't show much. You can clearly see the plus power in them though. Hopefully by this time next year their will be a lot more available.
