Our inability to get any offence off of a s***** Braves bullpen is what really lost this though.

I really hope JD isn't still feeling the effects of when he rolled his wrist in the second game of the double header on Saturday.

It was a successful series in that they took 3/4, but some of our guys left there pretty banged up.

God I hope Shapiro ships out both Gibbons and Sanchez this offseason. I can't handle these two anymore.

Sanchez is fine when used properly...Gibbons,on the other hand, ugh!

Why wouldn't you walk and go for DP? Gibbons thinks odds are in favor of getting a ground out with infield playign in? What an idiot.

That's what I told my wife, they are going to load the bases for a dp. Gibbons IS an idiot. We are in trouble for the playoffs with this guy calling the shots.

The Yankees pummeled the Braves.. facing MUCH weaker arms than what we saw. They faced Williams Perez, Matt Wisler, and Julio Teheran. And recent adjustments by Julio have really helped.. he's been much better than when the Yanks faced him.

And the Yanks pen is imploding.. they're about to hand the Rays a W.

So, anyone have count of how many Gibby hiccups have cost us this year? Would we be closing in on 86-87 wins right now?

Just Gibbons, Sanchez is valuable when used properly.

At first I sided with Gibbons - Bourn is pretty fast, so hard to double him off.

But if you're playing infield in, it's not that hard to double off anyway.

The risk is that the force play can force in a run.

But on the other hand, sticking with your GB pitcher in a 2nd-3rd situation and hoping for a favourable ground ball makes a bit more sense when a tailor-made DP is possible.

Come on. Gibbons probably waiting him for save situation.

Except Osuna was ready and even started to walk out of the bullpen as Gibbons came out of the dugout...

If we walked Simmons, we still likely lose because Bourn is difficult to double up if he made contact.

What a miserable game. I knew we kind of blew our best chance in that inning when we had Teheran on the ropes with bases loaded while he couldn't throw a strike, but Revere just had a bad game hitting out there tonight. Smoak also had a horrible game defensively today as he was basically responsible for two runs today that lost us the ballgame. He's been good all year there but let this be a reminder to him to stay sharp, we can't afford to have him choke like that anymore down the stretch.

One thing I don't get is playing so conservatively late in the game when we had Martin on base with 1 out with Goins and Pennington coming up. Why not pinch run with Pompey and pinch hit Goins when it's a tough lefty he has to face out there? This is September and we had enough guys to make moves... and you play to win late in tie ballgames on the road. No idea why Gibbons was so conservative there. Funny thing is, he was switched out for Barney later anyway... so... why wasn't this made earlier?

And don't get why Sanchez was out there for a second inning out there either, from what I've seen this year he's been pretty bad once he is past his one good inning of work as a setup guy.

Just a flat performance all around, no one seemed inspired to win out there tonight for some reason, or maybe it was just that miserable dead atmosphere in Atlanta... need at least EE back as soon as possible and need to get back home, there's been some really uncharacteristically awful flat games from this road trip reminding me of pre-Tulo days which is slightly concerning...

Afraid we may slip again tomorrow with us facing Miller tm even if we have Price going, the bats have been really flat the past two games.

Teheran would get destroyed by the Yankees now too. he's dreadful against lefties.

I don't understand how you can be a manager. That's like being the manager of Best Buy and leaving the front door wide open. You shouldn't keep a job for such stupidity. Sanchez wasn't going to f***ing strike him out, so what was your plan here? He got one ground ball, he'll get another? And another?

I'd have walked him just to have the force play at home on. Either way you'd be playing for two separate outs.

First Gibby doesn't realize lefties hit Teheran better. Next he leaves Sanchez in more two innings instead of Osuna for a K.

Cherry picking.

What about his moves that have demonstrably contributed to several wins?

Case: hitting Donaldson second.

Not letting Gibs off the hook for tonight but at least be fair if we're tallying manager decisions and team wins.

Because boomhauer as manager doesn't relate well to baseball iq. He made a retarded double switch to set up Sanchez for his second inning (apparently forgetting how wildly successful that move was Saturday).

I felt the same way at first as well, but upon thinking, you would have to put the infielders back, at which point you expose yourself to Bourn's speed. So you have to play the infield in, which brings us back to square 1

Before he made adjustments. His last two starts have been very good, only giving up 1 run in each of his last 2 starts (and 2 tonight). Teheran isn't as bad as he's shown.
