Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 give him the starting gig in NY as planned he's likely so mad at himself he'll throw 6 scoreless
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Put him in right field. Bautista can't throw.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I'd let Stroman make a start in NY. If anything it will give them a different look, besides Hutch is horrible (especially on the road and Buehrle is clearly not the same).
candymartinez Verified Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Okay, wasn't a good start, but wasn't horrible. Can bring him up on the rotation or bullpen, either way it isn't a bad move. Can't really say what the best approach is.
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 your the most dumn Pretty sure it was a joke. At least I hope it was and I'm treating it as such.

I agree 100% I don't care if it's just sheer bad luck, Hutch sucks on the road. I'd rather see Stroman pitch and see what he does. Hutch is 7 ER by the 3 inning. Stroman will do no worse than that, and perhaps wayyyy better.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 3 IP 4ER 8H 4BB 5SO What do we do now with him? Bisons Season is over. That's too bad. Way too high expectations from so many for a kid coming off knee with limited MLB SP experience. You have to bring him up and hope this is a blip in recovery.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Who cares what his Stat line was? Did his leg hurt or not when he was done? Is he healthy enough to join the team in any capacity? That's all that matters.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I'd feel better with a rusty Stroman then Buerhle right now.

Is he healthy enough to join the team in any capacity? That's all that matters. Its a given that if his leg hurts or he isn't healthy he doesn't come up. Determining if he can help the team is dependent on his effectiveness....and to determine that the stat lines are relevant indicator to some degree.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 One game doesn't mean anything. But it's all we have to determine where his control/command/stuff is at.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 So if his leg feels good but he can't throw strikes or command the strike zone it doesn't matter? He had a bad day. He had them last year too.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 So if his leg feels good but he can't throw strikes or command the strike zone it doesn't matter? 1 minor league start's worth of numbers is worth about a such as spring training numbers. They don't really indicate anything.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 But it's all we have to determine where his control/command/stuff is at. No its not. The Jays would have guys there to actually look at him and see what he actually looked like. Was he missing wildly? Getting squeezed by the ump? Who knows. Health is really all that matters when you're out of places to rehab and either have to be shut down or added to the roster.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 no I honestly would have just had him pitching rehab two innings at a time, and finish the season him in the pen in the Bigs. I just don't think I'd bother trying to start him. I'm not giving him low odds of being successful, as I don't doubt anything from that man, but I just don't think the reward is enough. I know it was a knee not an arm but repeating your delivery when rehabbing an injury is so difficult. Having him 100% next April is way more important.
Statman Verified Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Slate Stroman for Buehrle's next start. I'm afraid Buehrle's arm is done.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 1 minor league start's worth of numbers is worth about a such as spring training numbers. They don't really indicate anything. And conversely, he has 2 minor league starts under his belt since what, last September? Almost a year...And you want to just throw him into a playoff race because he's Marcus Stroman. I'm not saying he can't step in and produce...but it's not an automatic....not at all. The command needs to be there. Today it wasn't...maybe in 5 days it will be...Guy hasn't pitched in a year basically and he's ready after 2 minor league starts? I'd be excited to see him start in place of Buehrle next time around...but I'm not going to pretend that there aren't concerns. We need to be guarded and reign in our expectations.

How he was commanding his pitches in BUFF is important imo.

It's all "WE" have. We're not there. All we see is the box score and any scouting reports we find on twitter regarding velocity, movement, control, command. I see 8 hits and 4 walks in 3 innings and on the surface that doesn't sound good. Were they hard hit balls or a bunch of chinks and bloops. The walks though...a bit more worrisome.
