art_vandelay275 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 If we were to win the division, right now it's likely that we'll go up against the 'stros. In a best of five and with their starting rotation (Keuchel, McCullers, McHugh, Kazmir, Fiers) not to mention Altuve, Correa, Springer (assuming he'll be back), I am wondering that's a "non ideal" match up for us. Whereas if we are in the wildcard and assuming we win it (which granted is a big "if"), we are now matched up against the Royals. With some of the more recent struggles the Royals have had, both in SP and bullpen, that might not be a bad match-up for us. I guess what I am saying is that going into a 5 game series, the 'stros are the scarier team to me and I'd rather take my chances against the Royals. What do you guys think?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Astros. I'll take my chances against two lefties (albeit two pretty good ones) and a team that strikes out as much as anyone in the league. Price, Stroman, Hutch.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Jays (with home field advantage) vs Astros in DCS And then Jays vs Royals in ALCS would be epic And then Jays vs Cubs

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Its been more than 20 years. I want to win the division and make the playoffs. Once/If we are in anything can happen. I don't care who we play.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Honestly it doesn't matter, I think we would mash both. But it would be way more satisfying to knock out the Royals and mock Volquez with crocodile tears.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 You it will be against the Mets and game 7 at home will be Dickey vs. Synder. So we're losing the WS?
mellowgold Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 KC's pitching really doesn't scare me at all. I think we could put up some crooked numbers against that staff. Cueto has looked pretty ordinary since coming to the AL and Volquez and Ventura are both massive douchebags with pretty average numbers who I think we could really feast on by getting them off their game and having them more concerned about throwing at us than winning the series.

That's it We can get 5-6 innings into a game with a sizeable lead against KC. Then their bullpen doesn't matter as much. Only ours does and it's solid now.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 The road to the WS goes through both teams. I'd rather face HOU first round, I guess, but they're both good teams IMO.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 How bout we worry about the division/wildcard game first lol.... I have been a Fan for a long time and i have experienced a lot of kick in the ball sack.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I feel like the Royals are the kind of team that would throw at Donaldson's hands just before getting eliminated. Cueto, Volquez, Herrera, Ventura. All hot heads.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Avenging 1985, thirty years after the fact would be awesome. Bean balls not so much though I think even the Royals would prefer not to start a bean ball war in the post-season.
mellowgold Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Keuchel and Kazmir worry me a little. Seeing those guys four or five times in a series would be tough.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Matchups doesn't matter all that much. Royals got to the WS with shields pitching like crap and relying on Guthrie lol. I'll take the Astros though because losing to the royals would be unbearable.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 So we're losing the WS? No, Thor sucks on the road.

Pick who you'd want to beat.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 On our path to the World Series I would very much like the destroy KC.

labadee Verified Member Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 So we're losing the WS? no dickey will pitch a CG SO and we'll have him on the level of excellence
crmr Verified Member Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Or in game 1 of the ALCS. I am legitimately concerned that the Royals will intentionally throw at JD, JB, Tulo or EE. That would be risky for them. Chance those guys get hurt while being thrown at is pretty low, but I think MLB might be pretty quick with a suspension because of the reputation they have this year and the fact it would obviously be on purpose. Ump may also not give any warning on an ejection = getting to their pen quickly in game 1. I would imagine that stuff shows up later in the series
