Statman Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Something to keep an eye on when the Blue Jays and Yankees meet again: everybody on both teams thinks everybody on the other team is stealing signs or tipping location, which can lead to some nastiness. As Yankees closer Andrew Miller said: “There’s a lot going on out there.” The Yankees are one of the teams that uses multiple signs at the Rogers Centre even when there’s nobody on base, out of fear that somehow, someone somewhere in centre-field is stealing something. This all goes back, of course, to assertions from the Chicago White Sox contained in a 2011 ESPN The Magazine article, and it’s had a remarkable shelf-life considering the changeover in personnel the Blue Jays have undergone. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/hutchison-demotion-still-on-table-despite-strong-outings/
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 We scored a grand total of what, 7 runs this entire series? We better fire that man in white. s***, we scored more runs in Yankee Stadium. http://media.nj.com/yankees_main/photo/9883436-large.jpg

Toronto baseball fans, ladies and gentlemen.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I dunno. Navarro's numbers aren't even good in the traditional sense so I didn't think it would be too much to hope that people see he sucks.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Sportsnet should delete those articles and get rid of comments

The guy is hitting .216/.277/.328 with 3 HR's. That is just putrid with traditional stats. Russ has an OBP equal to Navarro's SLG.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Hahahhaha, this is too good. At this point we should just use this to f*** with other teams. The fans in CF should only be wearing white and have signs exactly as pictured. The turnover between when this started and now has been insane to think this is still in the mind of teams is truly hilarious.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 To be honest, this story seems like Jeff Blair trying to drum something up. Andrew Miller is the only quote and he didn't say anything about the man in white. I did notice throughout the series that both teams were paying extra attention to runners on second. Never read the comments. and even that quote from Miller could be about anything.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 The fans in the outfield should all wear blue jerseys, except for one designated fan in a white jersey. That fan should be dead centre and have two different coloured cards to hold up and every pitch should flash a colour.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I have a few tickets in the right field seats I believe against the Orioles and Yankees. I'm gonna bring a few boards.

If Thole is actually hurt we don't have another healthy catcher on the 40 man.

Martin with injury > Navarro and we are in a playoff race.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 It would be awesome if people jumped on this and wore all white or just one guy in white with everyone else in on the joke too. The Rogers Centre is pretty wack though on having fun. Last year my buddy and I dressed up as milkmen for Melky and they almost didn't let us in because they said we would be a distraction and had to get a supervisor to come and take a look at us outside before they let us in, this is what we looked like, that homemade cutout took me far too long to make haha. http://i.imgur.com/aJtDwQk.jpg
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 The f***? Distraction? I think the idiots that use the same heckle over and over are more distracting than you two.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I don't know what to make of it, it really is strange. Obviously, the Yankees and Red Sox are paranoid about the Jays doing something. The fact that they use multiple signs with nobody on base speaks to this fact. They both have had players play for them that have played for the Jays and the Sox have the Jays former manager. So if nothing was going on, they would know nothing was going on, and there would be no reason to continue being paranoid. Or perhaps something is going on, and they do know about it, but if it's something inappropriate, why not involve major league baseball and make a big stink about it? Do the Yankees and Red Sox do this against the Jays in their own ballparks? Do they do it with other teams, or just Toronto? I've made a mental note to watch for these things, but I always forget.

The Royals also made similar comments after their last series with the Jays at the Sky Dome. Orioles too but that was in 2013 or 2014 about them jumping on off-speed pitches like they knew they were coming. Russell Martin a current player accused them of stealing signs but that was with a player tipping at 2nd base. It is obvious ******** about the guy in center field but I love it that it is in the minds of the opposing managers and players. I think it is an advantage to the Jays.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I've never understood why teams get so pissed off when their opponent steals their signs. Why is this an "unwritten" rule? If the hitters are consistently knowing what pitch is coming because they are reading and relaying your signs, all it means is that your signs are not good enough. Am I off base here? Well the idea is that the Jays are getting external help. If that was the case, I would concur that they are in the wrong and MLB should punish them. Only problem is that there is literally zero evidence that this man in white nonsense has any merit.

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Why is Blair still employed? Every team is trying to steal every other teams signs and so on...

West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Do you still get dressed like that in the hopes Melky re-signs with the Blue Jays? No, it was a longtime joke. We would go out to SF and see Melky and see these milkmen dressed up and thought it was jokes so we did it in Toronto. He loved it, came up to us and thanked us for making the effort and signed a ball each and all around was a fun night.
