I guess what bothers me about it is that I legitimately don't think Sanchez beaned Escobar intentionally, based on the situation and count. I wish he had (preferably Hosmer or Cain), but I don't think he did.

Remember though Yost said Sanchez missed him on the first pitch which was straight up the cock of the plate

Posted

Just shows that instigators get off free. Zero risk for them.

Sanchez will probably appeal and it could be dropped to 1 game. No biggie. Just take advantage of his appearances.

If Donaldson doesn't move he gets nailed in the head twice. He could have f***ing died. Sanchez throws at a guys feet, and probably not on purpose and gets suspended 3 games.

How is any of this remotely fair?

I didn't hear a word Nick Nolte said, I was far too distracted by his eyeliner.

Appeal or not, we're gonna need Sanchez during the Yankees series so however games he miss hopefully it doesn't overlap into those upcoming games.

Donaldson got thrown at the head twice after, zero players kicked out or suspended.

THAT IS WAY f***ING WORSE THAN THROWING AT SOMEONES FEET.

Holy f***

Is anyone here disputing that Sanchez intentionally threw at the batter? What's the big deal. Aaron and Gibby probably knew it was coming. Was still worth it.

Not any more intentional than 90% of HBP's that don't lead to a suspension. Complete BS.

Only dangerous actions that carry obvious intent are punished. Only Sanchez's action was obviously intentional, hence he is suspended. I don't really have a problem with this. The Royals are good at hiding their intentions and so they get away with stuff.

Their post-game ******** kind of argues against this.

How was Sanchez' HBP "obviously" intentional? There were two outs, he threw a first pitch strike, and the struck batter wasn't one of their best hitters, nor was he hit in the back. It didn't look intentional at all to me.

Would Volquez's post game comments not clearly define obvious intent?

And Ventura's comments promising that harm would come Bautista's way during their next meeting?

Exactly. Theses suspensions are more symbolic than anything else. Sanchez can file an appeal then pitch 2 innings in a game and then immediately drop the appeal and take the rest. It's really quite easy to work around something like this.

It's the principle. Volquez was obviously trying to hit him and has no command so he almost took JD's head off 3 times. Tulo almost broke his wrist and Sanchez gets suspended for knicking Escobar's f***ing knee on a moving 2 seamer

I still don't understand how Donaldson getting thrown at the head twice after has zero repercussions??? Just because he got out of the way, everyone is safe? What the f***.

It's a f***ing joke.... throwing at someone's head should be 10000000000000000000000x more serious than throwing at someone's feet...............

Worth it. Drill them again next time if they keep keep coming up and in...only higher. Royals are bush and way too high on themselves right now.

Yeah I get that they basically went with an interpretationt that's very favourable to the Royals. They could have just as easily judged at least one of the balls thrown at Donaldson to be intentional and had about as much of an argument as they had for the Sanchez pitch. That being said, they basically treated the whole scenario with kid gloves, only giving a very light punishment for the one throw they judged (possibly incorrectly) to be the most obvious bean.

Who's quote was that?

Volquez all but admitted to throwing at JD and Ventura threatened Bautista. Combine that with the history of the Royals and there's no way they should get off with nothing.

I think Sanchez lost his s*** when the ump first didn't make a call and then called a pitch that was literally right down the middle a ball. he was then way off outside and then hit him. probably no intent there. the problem was Wolfe putting the stupid warning in place to begin with.

Yes but only if it's judged to be intentional which can be a difficult call to make. You can't punish a guy merely based on the serverity of the incident. You have to judge intent and that's highly subjective.

Should have made it worthwhile and hit him above the waist. What a joke. The ump calls one of the worst games ever and the Jays have to pay for it. They should bury Wolf's brother in the low minors.

MLB are just following up on the foundation the umpires laid in the game. The only team who got punished are the Jays, so that's why only members of the Jays are suffering the follow up.

Can't really punish the Royals if the guy running the game didn't feel they did anything wrong. You only pay a fine if you get the ticket.

Okay but at what point do they take the kid gloves off? Like I said JD's head almost got taken off twice in addition to being plunked on a shoulder and Tulo could have went down for the season. This is the same team who went after Lawrie what, 3 times for a hard slide? A group of grown men intentionally threw a 100MPH fastball at a human being multiple times

Herrera actually pointed at Lawrie's f***ing head. I'm actually getting mad typing this at the horseshit this KC staff has done all year

Wok made a good point. They kind of had their hands tied by the actions of the ump. They couldn't really do anything to the Royals without showing him up (which I wish they would have anyways but I understand why they didn't).
