SexyNewForum Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I was wondering who you guys think we should target in the off season and who are the superior pitchers that are becoming free agents. In my mind our rotation should look like Stroman Free agent ace Buherle Hutch Estrada What do you think of offering buehrle 30 million for two years with a club option to buy out for 6 million on the second year? I think he could fetch more than that but I think he'll want to return to try and win with our great lineup. How much are you comfortable offering price and what will he fetch? If buehrle retires (I doubt it He's only 36 and pitching as well as ever) I think we should sign two pitchers. An ace plus a 2-3 kind of guy. Any ideas ?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Price is getting 200M+ over 7+ years, and Buehrle probably won't be back, whether it be a disinterest from the Jays side, or a desire to stay with his dogs and his family on his side. Doesn't matter anyway, too early to talk about the 2016 rotation. The focus of both the team and the fans should be on this year.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Bring back Price and MB. Price Dickey Stroman Buehrle Hutchisin
strochez Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I think Osuna should slot in there and have Sanchez close. Free Agent Stroman Hutchison Dickey Osuna
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Stroman Dickey ( should probably be brought back just for the 200 IP) Hutch Osuna Estrada or free agent. Resigning Price is probably a bad idea. I'll be very surprised to see Buehrle resign here
flafson Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 If Dickey continues his roll until the end of the season, he's coming back. MB will probably be given a QO, so either he retires or he comes back. Price already said he wants to see what's out there, i can only assume it means he will give us a though only if we are in the same ball park as the other offers he gets, but i don't see Rogers writing a cheque for 200M.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Price will get too much money. He's not coming here.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 They have to sign a FA SP. I doubt Price re-signs, not that it would be a good idea to pay the premium it would take to get him to stay. Man, AA has given up tons of prospects over the year. Gotta give him lots of credit for building up the farm system because without it, team would be in trouble.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Stroman Hutchison Osuna/Sanchez Estrada Trade because we're to cheap to go FA No depth beyond veteran AAA guys.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Buerhle will not be back unless we win the world series! Rotation hopefully looks like Price/Cueto Stroman Estrada Osuna Hutch/Dickey(also very little chance)/Sanchez, Free Agent Hopefully owners and new president allow for bigger and longer contracts. We will see though.
Zaun of the Dead Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 it will probably be something like Stroman Hutch Osuna Estrada Sanchez
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Price Cueto Samardzija Stroman Osuna That would be awesome
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Price Cueto Samardzija Stroman Osuna forgot grenkie
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 FA Stroman Dickey Hutch Osuna/Sanchez

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I could see AA selling high on Pillar or Ee for a SP. Don't get me wrong, I like Pillar, just a thought.

Why would EE accept that though? No player in their right mind would want to be traded when the team is doing well and they are happy. If the team would tank then it's different, but that's not the case.

Candide Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 i wouldn't tinker with the core lineup of Travis-Tulo-Bautista-EE-Donaldson-Martin. that's 2/3rds of the batting order that is going to drive the offence for the next 2-3 seasons. would rather take my chances in free agency for a SP and/or trade other assets than to give up EE in spite of his down year.
Candide Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Stroman Dickey (innings eater) FA Hutchison (crappy innings eater who is still young enough to rebound slightly next season) Osuna keep Sanchez in the pen. i think if the Jays can't re-sign Price, they're better off trying to acquire a #3-4 guy and stack the bullpen with guys who could serve as a #5 if Hutchison/Osuna struggle and/or injuries occur. Kind of like Estrada this season. realistically, if Travis is fully healthy, Pompey is ready to platoon with Pillar/Revere, the offence has a chance of repeating its success this season. that should be good enough for another WC-contending season
baubau Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Stroman Norris Hutch Hoffman Osuna/Sanchez Oh wait. Honestly, I'd ideally like it to be: FA - Shark or someone if possible Stro Hutch Dickey - likely have him brought back if he finishes strong Osuna / FA backup - someone like a Estrada in case Osuna falters.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Don't like Shark, would rather go all in for Price, or Cueto. Hopefully we get a president who allows contracts greater than 5 years. Such a stupid policy. Price/Stro/Dickey/Hutch/Estrada would be pretty solid. I'd love to see Beurhle back, he has been a dependable anchor for the 3 years he's been here. Maybe trade Hutch for some depth if they can re-sign Price and Beurhle.

Caper Verified Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Those FA, pitching contracts are just to risky. Look at Verlander, hit 30 and kind of fell off a cliff. It would be insane what Price or Cueto get in free agency. They will almost surely be bad contracts. Better off crossing your fingers and hoping Stroman becomes an ace and/or Osuna is as good at starting as he is at closing.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Can't see Sanchez being traded after they held onto him through all these moves. He will start in 2016. To round out the rotation, with this offense, Jays just need to get a guy like JA Happ, or two of them.
