My fellow Americans. As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball; but tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward; upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Losing Pompey would be most displeasing.

After keeping track of everything all morning, what I can say is that the Jays were said to be in on Revere several hours ago. Then it was reported they didn't have interest in him, until people started mentioning that the price for Revere was dropping. Shortly after that, it was reported that the Jays were back in, and indeed had a deal for him done. Now they're saying that the deal is simply pending medicals.

So it's safe to assume the Phillies asked for a lot, but maybe the Jays said no, until their price came down. Still, with the amount of control Revere still has left, I won't be comfortable until the full trade is revealed, and I'll remain paranoid about losing Pompey or Alford.

People need to relax. there will be over reactions on a day like this. give people a bit of room.

way too many whiny people today. getting way too many "reported posts" complaining about nothing. people need a little thicker skin.

jays are getting better, be happy today.

Was this a rare case of one of AA's deals being leaked too soon? If so fully expect Amaro is being an idiot.

MacPhail is making these moves...Amaro's just lip service.

Getting Revere if it isn't too expensive could free up Pompey to be moved for a pitcher.

I don't mind this idea, though i think Pompey is a different type of player than Revere. Alford, as much as i like his upside, is more similar to Revere. A better Revere, upside-wise.

Pompey has a bunch of unrealized power in his bat.

Edit: I should add, Alford apparently could have plus power as well in the future, but i've seen it first hand in Pomps.

With all these moves AA has made to improve the pen, rotation and add to the deadly offense we've already had this is going to be interesting. 6 games back in the division with 13 head-to-head games to go with the Yankees is going to be fun to watch. Much more likely the Jays are eyeing the Wild Card (or I should say probably easier for them to make at this point) but if the Jays can keep it close, with the games left against the Yankees this late in the year, especially some in September, it could make it a nail biting shot for the division crown. I'm getting ahead of myself a bit but certain is one hell of a deadline and is exciting, providing we're not giving up too much for Revere.

Future lineup with everybody is insane:

1. Revere

2. Donaldson

3. Bautista

4. Tulowitzki

5. Martin

6. Encarnacion

7. Smoak

8. Travis

9. Pillar

Cola and DV and Goins off the bench. Yikes

With Revere and Pillar in left and centre, where exactly does Pompey fit going forward?

Good question.....I don't get it....

And I just read on one of the phillies' boards that they expect D J Davis to be in the trade...don't know where that is coming from..just speculation..

The correct answer is in LF while Revere goes to the bench and becomes the late game pinch runner and occasional day off for a regular OF.
