Baseball is such a funny sport, you feel on cloud nine as a fan one day and after 1 loss feel like the season's over. This was a terrible loss, but let's not lose sight of the fact of how many 3 (or 4 if Minny wins) deficits have been made up in much less than 60 games. It's not the end of the world, but it sure feels like more than the Tulo trade is needed

 

Baltimore and Tampa are about to go ahead of the Jays, the surging White Sox are half game behind the Jays, and the Yankees/Twins are going to improve their lead by 8 and 4 games respectively on the Jays playoff hopes.

 

The Tulo trade was right out of Ruben Amaro's playbook the moment Hoffman's name was announced as part of the deal.

I agree with this, although since I read about it this morning I haven't seen the Tulo trade as a Win-Now type of trade as much as it is stockpiling exceptional talent for the future.

 

I mean, obviously Tulo helps now because any team who lands Tulo is better for it, but the rotation needs more moves than I can see reasonably pulled off within the next few days - and even then, starting at a disadvantage in the standings just makes it even more of a crapshoot. Maybe I'm just resigned, though. Who knows.

There's all the proof you need that this one-run game count everyone has going is just a couple-of-bounces-didn't-go-our-way ticker. Considering how much of baseball is just a hope and a prayer that your percentages work out, it's basically a s*** luck counter.

And I know this is not the first time the Jays have lost a 1-run game due to Umpire idiocy. Seems like its been at least 5 games where we got screwed by the umps/replay crap.

It's okay....this loss stings but we should be okay. At the very least this team should be in excellent position next year with Stroman + Saunders coming back healthy. Good times ahead for Jays fans.

Moderate positives:

 

- Tulo yet to debut

- Bautista not seriously injured

- Bullpen looked amazing with Hawkins

 

Huge positive

- Nats trade spared us the sight of Pigf***er McGee closing the game for the Phillies
