Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 HANDS DOWN THE BEST SHORTSTOP IN THE MULTIVERSE cf Was an accurate statement at the time, dumbdick. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=ss&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=300&type=8&season=2014&month=0&season1=2014&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0 This was a pre-Lindor, Seager, Correa world. It was a wonderful time to be alive.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 It was incredibly hyperbolic at the time. He had put up 1-win in close to 100 games in Colorado, and looked like a broken shell of his former self, which lead to Colorado jumping ship while they still could.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 It was incredibly hyperbolic at the time. He had put up 1-win in close to 100 games in Colorado, and looked like a broken shell of his former self, which lead to Colorado jumping ship while they still could. And the year before he had a 170 wRC+. Back to back .400 wOBA seasons with elite defence. I don't think it was hyperbolic at all, he had long track record of being elite and no other shortstop was even close to him in his prime. Pardon me for not writing off a Hall of Fame caliber talent after a 100 game sample.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Yeah you're not including the remainder of 2015 after the trade when Reyes was -0.4. Tulo was 1.4, added to his 2.9 in 2016 = 4.3. This argument is ******** anyways. The day the Rockies dumped Reyes and ate his contract is the day the Jays won this comparison, if anyone actually cares about such things. The missed opportunity was letting him slip away to the Mets instead of getting much needed MIF depth and now it's 200-something Goins games later. Just like how technically the Jays didn't win the Encarnacion trade. They were just smart enough to get him back after his tryout with Oakland.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Yeah, you really nailed it! Zero regrets about this trade. We gave up zero quality MLB prospects and dumped Reyes' contract.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Zero regrets about this trade. We gave up zero quality MLB prospects and dumped Reyes' contract. This argument isn't about the trade, it's about me trolling you for saying we acquired the best shortstop in the history of time. Try to keep up.

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Dude you are going full Boxy. Never go full Boxy. What's wrong with boxy?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 What's wrong with boxy? You mean like clinically speaking or...?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Holy s***! Can't wait to see him pitch outside of Coors. Oh wait. Extend the AA. He's fixing his mistakes!1 Think even that is too much. Tulo has missed 50+ games a year including groin and hip problems, and will now be playing his age 31-35 seasons on turf. This is f***ing awesome!!! Travis, Donaldson, Bautista, EE, Tulo, Martin!!!! Someone pinch me!!! Thissss
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 You mean like clinically speaking or...? lol... Fight!
Key22 Verified Member Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 What is the time frame of Tulo's injury - anyone know how serious it is? With him and Travis being glass - would trying to sign a Zack Cozart make sense? Chances are he would wind up being a full time starter at one of those positions.

Cozart coming off 2.5 and 5 WAR seasons. Most likely will cost ~15M AAV for 2/3 yrs. No way the Jays do that, they will get what they can from their $20M man and Barney.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Tulo and Barney are a solid duo.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 glad Reyes and his albatross contract is out the door...... too bad it couldnt be norris instead of hoff and castro Bats for controllable pitching is actually the right move This is Donaldson, Martin, Tulo team now that can't be predicted. we know he is capable of 120, even higher, or he could continue to decline to 90 or less. Gun to my head, 95 is a reasonable prediction. With declining range in the field. Cozart coming off 2.5 and 5 WAR seasons. Most likely will cost ~15M AAV for 2/3 yrs. No way the Jays do that, they will get what they can from their $20M man and Barney. As it evolved, lol. Fake News!
