Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Ed hitting about .236 this year. I'm not sure how much value he has. His power numbers aren't bad... but nothing to write home about. Still an elite power bat with another 2016 option for a bargain price
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 We will see..we just swapped SS, paying more money in the long run...and now can't get an ace without trading from the major league roster...s*** trade. Hoffman should have went for an ACE if traded http://t1.livememe.com/z4vwbt_4.jpg
aselvana Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Joel Sherman @Joelsherman1 2m2 minutes ago #Bluejays could still move Norris and/or Pompey for SP but would mean bleeding a lot of prospects now to go for it. which would make sense,as aa is getting fired if they dont reach the playoffs.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Maybe AA's compensation plan is tied to run differential?
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I wonder what the third piece is. Alford?
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 lmao members will wake up tomorrow and find out reyes, hoffman, castro out and tulo, hawkins now jays. Recipe for a great WTF in the morning.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Hoffman wouldn't fetch an ace Hoffman, Norris, Pompey and Castro would get us an ACE...
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 and now for everyone to lower their standards on hoffman He's not a Blue Jay anymore, so his value has plummeted.

Hoffman should have went for an ACE if traded you would have to think that jays included him in offers for carrasco and that got rejected.
baubau Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Confims what I also suspected for a while, Jeff Blair doesn't know s***. Said that the Jays ranked Hoffman above Norris and Boyd. They'd be the ones shoped and traded first. #fullofshit
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Trading EE right now makes sense for us, but what team moves SP for him at the moment? Unless it's a 3 team type of deal I don't expect him moved until the winter.
aselvana Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Mike Wilner @Wilnerness590 1m1 minute ago Can't imagine it's a significant player with Hoffman and Castro both moving. #Bluejays #Jays wilner has spoken.
nucker101 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Hoffman wouldn't fetch an ace Obviously not alone, in a package with another quality asset it was possible to land an ace or #2 type of starter.
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Hoffman, Norris, Pompey and Castro would get us an ACE... Replace Hoffman and Castro with two other mid-level prospects and they can get an ace still.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Well now AA might as well go all out and trade Norris and Pompey too for a frontline starter. Its going to be a massive rebuild anyways, if it doesn't work out.

Wilner suddenly thinks Reyes was a negative influence after defending him all season

McDude Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 this last piece will make or break the deal, has to be a lower level guy

nextyear Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 This basically confirms what I have felt for the past couple of years. The Blue Jays management is completely focused on offense, although it appears that Troy Tulowitzki is good defensively also. Is it possible that Jose Reyes was so difficult to deal with that they just wanted to get him off the team at any cost? Troy Tulowitzki has seen a lot of injury time, so are people prepared to see Goins playing a lot of games at SS? Maybe Troy Tulowitzki is willing to rest a couple of games a week to extend his career unlike Reyes? If he isn't overplayed then maybe he can be productive for another 4 - 5 years?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I am actually happy Hoffman got traded tbh. This is totally worth it.
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 He's not a Blue Jay anymore, so his value has plummeted. There's a decent minority of us that are skeptical of Hoffman, it has nothing to do with the trade
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Remember a few pages ago when everyone was mocking Wilner because he said Hoffman or Norris must be going to other way... were still a 500 team after this trade.
