also, TL needs to be benched next GDT

Yeah i agree. We're kind of running out of options though. King would be my first choice but i'm not sure he's interested. G-Snarls would be epic but he seems busy these days.

No i let the board down a few times this year. Last year i had a epic run...but I've been pretty bad this year. I'm kind of like Danny Santana....regression to the mean.

I think every player should have the hand eye coordination to be able to sac bunt. The fact that Goins can't even lay down a sac bunt screams that he's delusional about his own talent level.

If being able to bunt was the difference between you being a AAAA lifer or getting MLB money and a real career, you'd have to be a complete ass not to put the hours in to learn to be perfect at it.

I completely agree. Goins has quick reflexes on defense so I am not sure why he hasn't learned to bunt.

Seriously. Ten f***ing minutes once a month should be enough to be an adequate bunter.

I would have made him stay after the game and talk batting practice for half an hour practicing bunting. Then release him.

So sad. Goins had that one good series against Red Sox but otherwise, UGH. Really shocking that he can't bunt. If Gibby needs to rest someone, rest Reyes or EE. Why Travis, who is hot? Why is Reyes always playing? Goins never even comes in as a def. replacement. Bye Gibby, hello Hentgen!

Unfortunately, even without Goins in the lineup the Blue Jays are playing a few games under 0.500 ball this season. So releasing Goins, a bench player, isn't going to have much effect.

The Blue Jays scored 5 runs but once again that wasn't enough. If the Blue Jays need to score 6 to 7 runs each game to have a good chance of wining then this isn't a team that can make the playoffs.

Travis didn't need a day off. Gibbons, the imbecile, saw the short sample of success Goins had against Walker and wet himself with excitement knowing he could finally play his boy. Resting one of the best hitters on your team this season to play a below replacement level player unnecessarily is just another perk of being a Jays fan with Gibby as manager.

I'll say it again. If you can't f***ing hit, you damn well better know how to bunt the f***ing ball. You shouldn't have a job if you can't even bunt the f***ing ball when needed.

Seriously. 99% of the time I hate bunting. Especially sac bunts. But one player who needs to be able to bunt at a high success rate when called upon is Goins. Brutal.

I think 85 wins is the top end for this team, and even expecting them to go 35-27 is not an easy task.

Just have to hope for one more massive win streak and then play .500 after that.

Considering the competition, we have a good shot if AA is smart enough to add pitching.

You know what gets me about this? Everyone knew we needed arms even before we lost Stro and after we traded Lind. We didn't address it in off season with FAs/trade market enough and now in order to do this mid season we will have to pay an inordinate amount in future value of prospects. Not to mention how many games we have lost since the start of 2015 which makes us even more desperate to have to add if we want to compete for a wild card. We have tit hooked ourselves again.

Not really.

We knew going in that we had Stroman, Buehrle, Dickey and Hutchison.

Sure you could have made an argument that we could have got a pitcher for the last slot, but everyone felt that Norris could have made the jump. We also could have used Estrada.

Why waste FA dollars when you had serviceable and cheaper 5th starter options?

Right now our rotation sucks not because we are missing that one piece, but because Stroman got injured and Dickey and Hutchison have completely s*** the bed.

And another thing.. the AL East is weak outside of the Yankees. In fact, most of the AL is, unless you're KC, Yankees or Houston/LA. Twins have been sliding as of late, and have shown that they are not able to beat contending teams (14-17 vs. +.500 teams, terrible on the road, and facing a difficult August and September sked.) So the Jays, O's and Rays aren't out of it.

And how is that working for us Herp? You haven't even mentioned the pen.

Especially when we lost Stro (injuries happen in baseball) the risks around RA, Hutch, Sanchez and Norris were ensuring we need an optimum case scenario to compete. Cecil barely pitched in the Spring. Even Stro only has 20 MLB starts under his belt. Norris and Sanchez have battled command their ML careers. I didn't see either as an effective lock. Mark B at his age has been a pleasant surprise for me that he continues to as consistent.

Like it or not we changed the paradigm with the MIA deal on payroll and the age of our team. IMO Rogers was in for a penny and needed to go in for a pound. I don't see it as wasting money.

We didn't have enough in the pen or rotation and its playing out that way. I think we have won 7 games were we scored 4 runs or less. Our inability to hold leads has been jugular. We added big pieces in JD and Martin and we sit at the same W totals. Depressing.

This forum's a f***ing Cesspool.

Yup. At times. Still much better than the old one. Got to allow some venting now and then. Its been an exciting but bloody frustrating year.

Reading this thread, the Jays lost before it started.
