Who told you Donaldson was so hurt that he needs to DH. Donaldson hasn't had a problem in the field so DHing him to give him a rest is bull. His problems have been hitting, but he isn't off today, just DHing.

Every person in the media has said he is really banged up right now. And pretty sure Gibby just said it as well. How clueless are you? Do you think the Jays would rather have Donaldson and Smoak/Cola in the lineup or Donaldson and Barney? Sometimes you just have to suck it up and do what is best for the player and team

He will also get a couple days off if/when we clinch and hopefully 3 days off while the WC teams play.

Completely fine with that...today just seems to send the wrong message. Hopefully we still pull it out in a blowout!

Pickoff, how can you STILL have Gibby's back after the questionable moves he makes on a day-to-day basis?

He doesn't. Sure, there are questionable moves but far from daily. People just like to look for ways to bitch about him. Tonight's a perfect example - he makes a perfectly reasonable lineup that will help the team longrun and people call for his head. Meanwhile it has worked out well.

Yeah, Gibbons seems to have gained some confidence and in this state is making better choices. I have really liked how he managed this year. The only think I was pissed at was the call to throw JPA any fastballs at all in the zone, but that may not have been his call. I also wouldn't get Loup up unless there is a 6+ run differential in the game, either way.

Well that was some of the worst managing from Gibbons I have seen all season. Almost blew the game. TERRIBLE decision to take Cecil out in the 9th

Except it wasn't at all.

Taking Cecil out of the game in that situation and replacing him with Osuna was a terrible move.

Yep, agreed.

How is it a terrible move? Osuna is the closer last i checked.

Taking out Cecil who has been lights out for awhile now, getting a ton of groundballs and strikeouts, for Osuna who has been giving up a lot of flyballs (and some home runs) lately on a day where the ball is really carrying is not a very good move.

A picture can make me so happy (Jays making the playoffs) and so defeated (Gibby staying long term) at the same time.

Osuna is the closer, but he's not our best pitcher and he has been shaky lately. Bringing him in with guys on base was a bad idea and could have severely backfired. Osuna is alot more likely to give up a homerun than Cecil. There was no reason to take Cecil out, he was pitching fine.

Arguing that bringing in Osuna is "terrible" is ludicrous. If you had said something like "I would have preferred to see Cecil stay in" then that's fine (doesn't mean that would be the "right" move though). But to call it terrible or say it's not a good idea just shows you're looking for ways to bash Gibby. Absolutely nothing wrong with bringing in Osuna with a righty coming up especially when it helps preserve your one true lefty specialist for the next day. Once again people looking for anyway to blame a guy who has been doing a great job lately.

Agreed. Zero reason to bring in Osuna in that situation. Save him for tomorrow.

Sorry, Gibby has been making stupid moves all year. He's a brutal manager.

Keep defending Gibbons. Keep making yourself look stupid. It was the wrong decision and we lucked out.

More value in saving your lefty specialist than Osuna when you've got other guys who can close if needed.

I'm one of the biggest Gibbons defenders.

How many homers has Osuna given up in the last 2 weeks? And how many times has Osuna come into a games with runners on base? Think about those 2 questions and then understand why I am angry and Gibby. Not to mention he wasted another pitcher when Cecil was doing fine.

Thankfully I'm not the one looking stupid in this argument. I understand that some people in here are young or don't have a full understanding of the game(which is fine, you can be a fan regardless of how deeply you are involved in the game), but I don't think it's just a lack of knowledge that's causing these ridiculous arguments against Gibby. You can tell that people just look for any way to pile up on him. Heck, someone yesterday was complaining about using a banged up JD at DH and the other day someone was angry that Estrada wasn't pulled in the 1st inning.

That's fair, and again that's a more intelligent way to say you'd rather have had Cecil stay in. I know you're not one of the ones making silly arguments. From my end I'm not concerned with how Osuna has pitched lately and think it's just an anomaly. I have faith in him still and I like having a stronger Cecil available tomorrow so I see nothing wrong with today's move (nor would have I thought leaving Cecil in would have been the "wrong" move)

Man what's so hard to understand? it was a save situation, and Osuna is the closer, is he not?

Had Gibbons stayed with Cecil and Longoria hit a 3 run HR. People here would be all over Gibby questioning "where's our closer?" hilarious.

I like how the rest of us give you reasons for why we don't think it was a good decision and Trouba just calls you stupid.

Speaks to his character (or lack thereof).
