Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 they are way closer in talent than you think id like to hear more arguments about how doubrant is as good as estrada please
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 id like to hear more arguments about how doubrant is as good as estrada please Superior FIP/xFIP, and projected for a superior FIP. Estrada will get more swings and misses, which likely means he'll get more strikeouts, but Doubront has decent enough stuff that he'll probably get his share. His control hasn't even been that bad, and he gets more groundballs than Estrada.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 He said talent...not performance. And in talent, I think he means 'stuff'. and means I enjoy reading how worked up some get over inconsequential details
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Who's worked up? This whole thread
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Would 8 years $170 million for Estrada get it done?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Would 8 years $170 million for Estrada get it done? add 50 million to it
Ehjays Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 add 50 million to it still not enough
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 still not enough Anything more and I might prefer throwing that money at Price instead.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Anything more and I might prefer throwing that money at Price instead. Seems like a waste to me, frankly.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Anything more and I might prefer throwing that money at Price instead. loooooool
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I'm not entirely sure if Deadpool is right but I like the cut of his jibb.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 gbill for post of the year agreed/////his sarcasm detector was off as well
abola2121 Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I feel like Estrada's having the type of season Esteban Loaiza had in 2003, albeit with fewer starts. Might not amount to much in the future.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 If Estrada continues to pitch as well as he has, would you offer him a QA? It would be a big raise (about 10M), but I think it could be a good gamble; either he signs and you maybe have an overpay, but it's just for one year, or he declines and tries to find a long term deal, and you end up with a high draft pick to help restock the system. I wouldn't mind seeing him back next year, as he's done a good job, but I wonder what he would get on the open market, and if he would be worth it? He seems to be a good candidate for a bad long term contract (ie. Bourne/Swisher, or any number of Twins signings the last couple of years).

He'll probably sign for less than that on 2-year deal.

That's probably correct, but if someone is dumb enough to sign Michael Cuddyer to a two year deal and lose a draft pick, then perhaps someone is desperate enough for pitching to give up the pick for Estrada? Plus I think he could get a 3 year deal in the $30m range if he continues to perform as well as he has. (Not saying he is worth it, but there is a lot of money in baseball these days...)

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Give him Romero's money at 3 years!
Hipfan Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Would any team even sign him with the draft pick attached? I doubt it See Cuddyer, Michael...crazier things have happened.
goeb Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Estrada has been a prodigious force this year
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 See Cuddyer, Michael...crazier things have happened. That was really surprising. We can't predict what's going to happen but it's really unlikely he gets a QO. Estrada was underrated coming into the season and might get paid accordingly next year so it's probably time to move on.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Rock. Hard. Stud. He was awful today lol.
