Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Anybody else think it's important the Jays try and get their rotation lined up for how it will look in the ALDS? I'd line them up Price-Dickey-Stroman-Estrada. I think you want RA in the Rogers Centre, not on the road Game 3. Stroman is like a second ace, he can start Game 3 on the road. If the rotation gets juggled in the next couple of days, we'll know what they're thinking coming post-season. It wouldn't be that hard to juggle either. Keep everyone on their normal rest and give Dickey and Estrada a few extra days off then put RA in after Price and Estrada after Stroman. There will be 3 or so days off between the last day of the season and the first game of the ALDS. Lining up the rotation won't be a problem.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 All in know is I'd have Price going 1,4 & 7, Work Stroman, Dickey and Estrada around the other four games. Don't think who you pick outta those makes much of a difference.

Mac Outlaw Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Isn't the ALDS a 5 game series? It is 5 games. If the series goes the distance, 4 guys are going to start no matter how you cut it.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Isn't the ALDS a 5 game series? Same thing applies. Just have him go 1 & 5 instead.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Same thing applies. Just have him go 1 & 5 instead. So then a 4 man rotation...not a 3 like you'd have in a 7 gamer.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Has there been a more dominant stretch for a reliever in Jays history than what Cecil has done over the last three months? BJ Ryan in 2006
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Can't edit on my phone, thanks juiced. BJ Ryan in 2006 had a 40 inning stretch to start the year with only 2 ER and 51K/8BB Cecil basically is coming into games in much higher leverage situations while facing the opposing teams best hitters. Guy deserves more appreciation. This is madness.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Has there been a more dominant stretch for a reliever in Jays history than what Cecil has done over the last three months? BJ Ryan in 2006 I was asking that the other day and thinking about it. BJ his 1st year maybe. Delabar 1st half 2013 was k'ing 14/9 with splitter? Ward's slider? But nothing seems as good as Cecil. The sequence to Gardner was electric. He is looking away for the hook on strike 3 and he goes upstairs at 94. His stuff right now is honestly mind boggling. Its not just his hook....his FB command is setting it all up.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 It is 5 games. If the series goes the distance, 4 guys are going to start no matter how you cut it. Game 1, Game 2, off day, Game 3, Game 4, off day, Game 5 - can't you go Price on 3 days rest Game 4 and Stro on 4 days rest Game 5?...perhaps I have that schedule wrong...

Yes that's right If you get up 2-1 in the series you probably don't do that If game 4 is do or die then you think about it and I'd probably want Gibby to pitch Price on 3 days rest

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) No Matt Moore for the Jays series. Matt Andriese will pitch vs. Buehrle on Sunday, as Moore is getting extra rest due to the fact he is returning from TJS. So our chances of winning the series have improved. Odorizzi tonight, Archer Saturday still. As for the coming series, Odorizzi has not been good in the 2nd half (4.56 ERA, 1.28 WHIP), with his August and September being mediocre. How the Rays do vs. Dickey is another question.. he has pitched reliably vs. the Rays this season, outside of the Apr. 24th start, which featured several players no longer in the Rays organization or on the DL, like Desmond Jennings, David DeJesus and Jake Elmore.. Chris Archer has struggled this month so far, with his walk rate surging and strikeouts dropping, albeit facing the Yanks and Red Sox. Still, they could be in tough vs. Price. Andriese hasn't started since July.. could be ugly for the Rays. Edited September 25, 2015 by jaysfan2014

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Matt Moore is terrible though. Matt Moore has improved since his return from AAA. Matt Andriese is only getting the call because the Rays want to give Moore rest, and not risk starting Blake Snell's arb clock until 2016(he's next on the depth chart), plus Nate Karns is shut down for the season due to a forearm strain.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Don't forget to boo our old friend JP Arencibia this series. Still a terrible defensive catcher with zero plate discipline. With Rene Rivera struggling, Casali shut down and Luke Maile having zero bat, expect to see a lot of him.

He's .083/.083/.083 (not a joke!) in his last 12 ABs, and .192/.222/.192 in his last 27 PAs (8 games). Most of his numbers can't be taken with a grain of salt due to small sample size. He's the same bad player that got run out of town by Toronto media (especially Gregg Zaun).

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 That bottom of the order is a pitchers worst nightmare... Gions! Pillar! Pennington! Barney! The majority of MLB lineups are like that though, at least 3 of them are superb defenders.
