nextyear Verified Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 I searched for the Tulowitzki thread but couldn't find it, so I will put this here in the General Thread. I found the following update on the Tulowitzki injury - http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-notebook-tulowitzki-making-progress/. This sounds promising, since it sounds as though the cracked shoulder blade is not what is keeping him out: “He says he’s feeling better,” said manager John Gibbons, who spoke with Tulowitzki briefly before a 6-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox. “I believe all the doctor told him was, you’re progressing, you’ve just got to let it run its course and when you feel you can start doing some baseball stuff you can do it. No new diagnosis, I don’t know exactly what kind of treatment he gave him there, the guy being a specialist, but I think the main focus is on the muscles that were involved. The small fracture, there’s nothing you can do about that, it’s really the muscles in the area that were the big focus.” One of the bad things about Tulowitzki being out, is that the Blue Jays fans were just starting to sound good (in sync) at the "Tulo" chant.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Yeah I find it funny that Lawrie is playing 2B every day while Valencia is at 3B. Valencia is doing quite well as an everyday player for the A's. I still think we should have kept Valencia over Colabello, but whatever. A's still have a lot of work to do. They have to fix that bullpen and settle the rotation.. but they looked poised for a rebound in 2016.

He'll be fine for playoffs with some pain killers
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 He'll be fine for playoffs with some pain killers As long as the risk of significant further damage is low. He's got a long term hefty guaranteed contract.

If those guys can come back, their rotation seems alright. Gray/Griffin/Parker/Chavez and Graveman or some other scrub. Not too bad.

Except Parker has had two tjs, they almost never come back the same. Don't count on him

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Are we actually thinking of going with Beuhrle instead of Estrada in the play-offs? Buehrle can't even field his position anymore, not to mention his velo keeps dropping and dropping. LOL! No. The question is which 2 of Dickey/Stroman/Estrada will start.

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 King's doing the GDT tomorrow. He delivered with three wins in the Bronx his last time out.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Going to honest, and I know I'll sound like one of the panickers, but I wonder how much magic Price will have left facing the Yanks for the fourth time in under two months. Then again, he might not need magic because he's David Price. s***'s got to be exhausting for him though.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 "I don’t think it was a great game defensively by a lot of us," said Buehrle. "Had some double plays that could have been turned, me making that throw, Cecil didn’t field the ball, it wasn’t a very good game overall defensively. We’ve been playing outstanding defence, we were due for a clunker like this." ...Papa B pretty much says it all regarding yesterday. There was probably 5 or 6 misplays. Lets see.. Navarro tag Cecil Buehrle throw Goins error + had another difficult play he usually makes Pennington throw on the potential DP... Thinking there was a 2nd play as well maybe it was the game before.

Agree on all but the Navarro tag. I agree with L54 on that one. I watched in on replay a few times, and was listening to Joe Sidall talk about short hops at the dish. Pillar was deep for a throw on a sac fly so I don't fault him on the arm. The pick was do or die for Navvy at full speed on a short hop. He didn't pick it but that's a very tough bang bang play.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I was at the cottage the whole weekend so I missed Friday through Sunday's games. Looks like a lot of s*** happened. Should I be worried?

Should I be worried? No Red Sox are playing really well We've had a handful of bad games in the past week But the team is still very good. Oh, and Stroman is back and rockin'.

Oh, and Stroman is back and rockin'. How about the big red flags lately, like Donaldson (probably tired), Osuna (probably tired but could probably stop using his fastball so much and rely on off speed) and Sanchez?
