Reddick hitting 8th might actually be dumner than Travis hitting 9th.

The A's actually have a solid offence, though. Don't know what jaysfan2014 is taking about

It won't matter if the A's defence throws the ball away so much (worst in AL.)

On June 13th the A's record was 25 wins and 39 losses, it is now 43 wins and 51 losses. Over the past 30 games the A's have 18 wins and 12 losses so in spite of their poor record they have been playing decent baseball lately. They have also crawled out of the AL West basement above Seattle.

Brett Lawrie got off to a slow start (hitting wise) but has greatly improved his batting average and RBI total over the past several weeks.

The A's will be tough to beat.

I have adopted the A's as my second team after the Blue Jays out of frustration with the Blue Jays and because the A's now have Canadian, and hockey-like player (in intensity) Brett Lawrie.

282 plate appearances with Jays last year, Lawrie amassed 1.8 WAR.

343 plate appearances with A's this year, Lawrie has amassed 0.9 WAR.

At least he is staying reasonably healthy, but needs to play a whole lot better.

It will be tough for me not to root for Lawrie tonight.

MASN broadcasters are delusional.. the O's don't have the assets to even think about making a deal for Justin Upton or Carlos Gomez. Padres and Brewers want a lot for them, which the O's can't offer (29th ranked farm system.)

How about you root for Donaldson to make it rain on his former team?

If Smoak is now officially the starting 1B against rhp, then good job Gibby. It took you three and a half months, but you figured out who your best 1B option is.

Just replace Carrera/Lolabello with Pompey, and good to go.

Carrera yes, but Collabello is still a useful piece offensively.

I think Ben needs to get his facts straight. Its goundout, competitive at bat, competitive at bat, single, K.

Can't believe he gets paid to report lies.

Reddick is a platoon player who shouldn't be starting vs. LHP 

Fangraphs now has the Jays projected to win 83 games......and the 2nd Wild Card spot.

Is the AL really that mediocre?

Since 1995, of all the times that a contending team has traded for an ace at the trade deadline, almost all of them have made the playoffs (17 out of 21), but absolutely none of them have won the world series. It doesn't really mean much, but it goes to show you that it's irresponsible to believe that an addition of any one player can carry you through October.

Are you sure this isn't a parody account?

Sure didn't work so well for Detroit (Price) and Oakland (Lester)

Nope and those are two immediate references that come to mind. But 17 of 21 making the play-offs, I'll take those odds!

We all know what an Ace is. He gives you wins lots of wins and has a low ERA.

Me too

I think adding a Hamels or a Price would drastically increase our playoff chances (both of making them and perhaps moreso advancing in them)

FTR I thought the Price trade was a good one for Detroit, but I never thought trading Cespedes for Lester was a good idea

Curious.

What are fans willing to give up to win the division?

What are fans willing to give up to win a WC spot?

I know it's a bit foolish but even a WC spot would be glorious at this point.
